Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones, City -Attorney ROLL CALL and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Ortuno. After a discussion on the regulation of the swimming pool and what organization would be required to reimburse the life guards for the swim program, it was moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Seltzer, the City Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolution employing Stanley Singer, Sr. Life Guard, as swimming instructor at a salary of $2.50 per hour for two hours from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, five days a week; that John Loughran, Jr. Life Guard, be employed as a swimming instructor at a salary of $1.50 per hour for two hours from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, five days a week, beginning July 9th, 1951. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: Councilman: Jackson. Absent: Councilman Ortuno. Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Jackson this resolution be adopted as read and.numbered Resolution No. 2533• Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno. A letter signed by A. L. Hutchison, Assistant District Engineer for State Division of High- ways, District VII, relative -to traffic con- ditions at the intersection of Azusa Avenue and First Street, was read and ordered placed on file. Marilyn J. West offered her resignation as assistant to Mrs. Walden at the swimming pool, effective Friday, August 24, 1951. Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Jackson Miss West's resignation be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission, with instructions to replace Miss West, if they find it necessary, and report back to Council. Mayor Jones offered Margaret Master's request for payment in lieu of one weeks vacation due her from last year. Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the payroll clerk be instructed to pay Mrs. Masters for one week at the rate she was receiving last year when her vacation was due. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno. A letter from Ralph A advising Council that vicinity of San Dimas use, was read. _ Thorsen of Monrovia he has a dump in the avtlable for city Mayor Jones appointed Councilman Ortuno, Superintendent Wolfe and Engineer Brooks to investigate the dump site and report back to Council. Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Jackson Council approve the appointment of a committee of three to investigate the'dump site. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: None . Absent: Councilman Ortuno. After further discussion on the cost of living wage, it was moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer that Council rescind Resolution No. 2533. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: None . Absent: Councilman Ortuno. WEST'S RESIGNATION REFERRED TO PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MARGARET MASTERS' REQUEST GRANTED CITY DUMP SITE MOTION TO RESCIND RESOLUTION NO. 2533 RESOLUTION NO. 2534 ADOPTED 9�Flc _ _ _ CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 1951 8:30 P.AA1 W-W Council requested the City Clerk to again ask the Personnel Clerk to notify the Heads of Departments when an employee becomes eligible for the next step in the approved pay plan. A letter signed by Clude A. Blanchard and E. E. McMahon relative to Fire, Lightning and Extended Coverage, was read, and Council was advised to take immediate action, bring insurance in line with the 901 value clause as the survey, now under way, revealed that the City is greatly underinsured. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Seltzer that Councilman Jack- son be authorized to secure a binder for an additional $200,000 dollars and to ask the insurance company to furnish the City with the cost of additional insurance. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones. Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno. Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the City Clerk be authorized aid instructed to advertise for bids fop blda for sufficient fence material to enclose pump site No. 5. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer, Me=nesheimer, Jones. Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jackson and duly carried Council adjourn.
