The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular adjourned session.at the
above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Ortuno, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones, City
Attorney.Snidow, Deputy City Clerk. Absent: ROLL CALL
City Clerk.
The Deputy City Clerk announced that sixteen
bids had been received in answer to Notice
Inviting Bids for the Collection and Dis-
posal of Rubbish.
BIDS ON DISPOSAL OF
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by RUBBISH
Councilman Jackson the bids be now opened,
examined and publicly declared.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Ortuno, Seltzer,
Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: None

Thereupon Council adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
to reconvene immediately after discussion
of the bids submitted.
The City Council of the City of Azusa
reconvened in the Council Chambers at 9:3,0 P.M.
after discussion and consideration of bids
submitted for the collection_ and disposal of
' rubbish. COUNCIL RECONVENED
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Ortuno, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones, City
Attorney Snidow, Deputy City Clerk. Absent:
City Clerk.
The Mayor announced that the lowest responsible
bidder on Schedules "A" and "B" of the
specifications for collection and disposal
of rubbish was John M. Avedesian. Mr. Avedesian
advised Council that he.now serves -the City of
Sierra Madre with rubbish disposal service and LOWEST RESPONSIBLE
plans to purchase new equipment for use with BIDDER
the City of Azusa if awarded the bid. He
also stated that he anticipates no difficulty
in securing the necessary bond required in the
specifications.
After discussion, it was moved by Councilman
Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Ortuno
the bid for the collection and disposal of
rubbish be not awarded until the meeting of
October 1, 1951 and the Superintendent of COM1JITTEE APPOINTED
Public Works, the Chairman of Public Works INSPECT THE EQUIPMENT
' and the .City Engineer be instructed to contact OF JOHN M. AVEDESIAN
Sierra Madre and inspect the equipment used
by Mr. John M. Avedesian and investigate the
service given by his firm.

Councilman Seltzer offered a resolution entitled:

COUNCILMEN, AT THE RATE_OF $25.00 PER MONTH, ADOPTED
EFFECTIVE JULY 159 1951. .

A communication from Canyon City Post No.
180, American Legion, was read requesting
permission to hold a free dance and to operate AMERICAN LEGIONIS
a concession of food on the tennis courts
behind the City Hall on October 27, 1951. REQUEST GRI-11TED
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by
Councilman Seltzer permission be granted
for the American Legion to hold said enter-
tainment and a fee -free permit be provided
by the City.

City and also the necessity of obtain-
ing an additional motorcycle for use in
the Police Department.
Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded
by Councilman Seltzer the City Clerk
be instructed to obtain a copy of the
latest available tax roll from the County.

After discussion it was decided that
Jones should contact Cornelius Smith
determine what amount of increase in
compensation should be made for his
graphic services rendered.

Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno the City Clerk be authorized
to advertise for bids for a motorcycle for
use in the Police Department, bids to be
opened at an adjourned meeting on October
22, 1951.

The Mayor announced a meeting to be held
on September 26, 1951 for the purpose of
discussion of curbs and gutters on Bayless
Avenue.
Superintendent V. D. Smith discussed with
Council a statement from Roscoe Moss Company
which will be presented for pW ment at a later
date.

Councilman Seltzer the following bills be
allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon
the Treasury for the same:
