HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-14 Staff Report - Azusa Ave Pavement Rehab Project NOCCONSENT ITEM E-14 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: DANIEL BOBADILLA, P.E., DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER DATE: JUNE 4, 2018 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PROJECT COMPLETION AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE REHABILITATE PAVEMENT ON AZUSA AVENUE FROM FIFTH STREET TO SANTA FE AVENUE PROJECT NO. 66118A BACKGROUND: On September 18, 2017, the City Council awarded a contract to All American Asphalt for the Rehabilitate Pavement on Azusa Avenue from Fifth Street to Santa Fe Avenue Project No. HPLUL- 5112(014). The project was completed on May 7, 2018. The proposed actions will accept the improvements and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the project. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1)Accept the project improvements; and 2)Authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the Rehabilitate Pavement on Azusa Avenue from Fifth Street to Santa Fe Avenue Project No. HPLUL-5112(014). ANALYSIS: The completed project rehabilitated the pavement on Azusa Avenue from Fifth Street to Santa Fe Avenue, approximately 0.35 miles in length. The rehabilitation method consisted of a 3 inch coldmill and asphalt concrete overlay. Additional improvements included removal and replacement of damaged curb & gutter, and thermoplastic striping. FISCAL IMPACT: The project was included in the FY2017-18 approved budget in the amount of $359,960 under project 66118A-7120. A contract for this project was awarded in the amount of $316,470.00, which included a 10% contingency for potential change orders. The project was funded with Federal AID Project Funds APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 6/4/2018 Rehabilitate Pavement on Azusa Ave Project June 4, 2018 Page 2 that was administered through the State of California Department of Transportation. , and the project was completed within budget with a total construction cost of $251,823.83.
