SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION REVISIONS FOR BUS DRIVER
CLASSIFICATION
SUMMARY:
On April 25, 2017, the Personnel Board met and approved revisions to the classification specification to the Bus
Driver classification (Attachment 1). The proposed action approves the revisions to the Bus Driver classification.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1) Approve the attached specification revisions to the Bus Driver classification.
DISCUSSION:
The position of Bus Driver is an existing vacant, Azusa City Employees Association (ACEA) position. There is an
urgent need to fill this position in order to continue operating the City’s Gold Line and shuttle services to Azusa
residents. In order to have a successful competitive recruitment to attract the most qualified candidates for this
position, it is necessary to make revisions to the existing classification specification (class spec) language.
Revisions are also necessary to reflect the current essential job functions, qualifications, required licenses of the
position qualifications, and to be in compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and to accurately list
the physical requirements of the position.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
