BUTZLAFF, ICMA-CM, CITY MANAGER FROM: ANN GRAF, DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND LIBRARY SERVICES DATE: MARCH 6, 2017 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE UNION PACIFIC FOUNDATION FOR THE AZUSA LIBRARY GRASS-ROOTS ESL PROGRAM SUMMARY: The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant from the Union Pacific Foundation. The total grant award is $2,000. This action accepts the grant award and approves a corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year budget. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1)Accept the grant award from the Union Pacific Foundation; and 2)Approve necessary budget amendments and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly. DISCUSSION: The Library is the recipient of the Union Pacific Foundation Grant. The grant will help to support the Azusa City Library Grass Roots English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to provide computer based on-line learning support through April 2018.
