SUBJECT: REQUEST TO WAIVE FEES FOR THE USE OF THE AZUSA AUDITORIUM
SUMMARY:
On January 24, 2017, the City received an application from the Azusa Chamber of Commerce,
which has partnered with the League of Women Voters, for the use of the Azusa Auditorium on
February 13, 2017, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in order to conduct a Candidates’ Forum for the
candidates who are on the ballot of the General Municipal Election of March 7, 2017. The
proposed action waives all fees associated with the use of the auditorium.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1) Waive all fees associated with the use of the auditorium.
BACKGROUND:
The Azusa Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of East San
Gabriel Valley has requested the use of the Azusa Auditorium on February 13, 2017 to hold a
Candidates’ Forum for individuals running for City Council and Mayor. As the applicant, the
Azusa Chamber of Commerce has requested that all fees associated with the use of the auditorium
be waived. Per the City’s Resolution of Fees and Charges, the cost for use of the auditorium is
$100 per hour after 4:00 p.m. The Chamber has also requested that the event be recorded. The City
has a contracted video technician who is responsible for all video production at a fee of $125.00
per meeting. Per the auditorium policy, only the City Council can waive these fees.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The proposed recommendation waives the Auditorium Rental fee of $187.50 and video
technician cost of $125.00 for a general fund impact of $312.50.
