BUTZLAFF, ICMA-CM, CITY MANAGER FROM: DANIEL BOBADILLA, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER DATE: DECEMBER 5, 2016 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT DEED FROM METRO GOLD LINE FOOTHILL EXTENSION CONSTRUCTION AUTHORITY FOR A PARCEL LOCATED ON ANGELENO AVENUE NORTH OF THE RAILROAD TRACKS SUMMARY: As part of the Metro Gold Line Project, the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority (Authority) acquired property on Angeleno Avenue north of the railroad tracks, across from the Public Works Yard. The Authority is offering this property to the City at no cost. The proposed actions will accept a Grant Deed from the Authority to acquire a vacant parcel on Angeleno Avenue. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1) Accept the Grant Deed from Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority for a parcel located on Angeleno Avenue north of the railroad tracks; and 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute the Grant Deed; and 3) Authorize the City Clerk to record the Grant Deed with the County Recorder’s Office. DISCUSSION: The City of Azusa proposes to acquire a parcel of real property from the Authority. The parcel is located on Angeleno Avenue, north of the railroad tracks, and approximately 12,161 square feet in size. With construction of the Gold Line light rail completed, the Authority has no purpose for this vacant parcel and is offering the parcel to the City at no cost. On November 30, 2016, the Planning Commission adopted a resolution finding that the acquisition of the parcel is in conformance with the General Plan.
