SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 2016-C56 DESIGNATING THE CITY TO SIGN
CONTRACT AND RELATED DOCUMENTS FOR THE ELDERLY NUTRITION
PROGRAM AS REQUIRED BY THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY AREA AGENCY
ON AGING
SUMMARY:
Since 1978, the City has provided senior meals to elderly residents of the community. As a recipient
of $107,574 per fiscal year for the next four years (2016 – 2020), from the Los Angeles County Area
Agency on Aging it is required for the City to adopt a Resolution, designating authorized
representatives to sign necessary documents and for the acceptance of the funds. This action adopts
Resolution No. 2016-C56, designating the Mayor or his designee, City Manager, as the authorized
representatives to sign the contract and all documents necessary to accompany the contract.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1) Accept the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging award of funding in the amount of
$107,574 for the next four years (2016 – 2020) for the Elderly Nutrition Program; and
2) Adopt Resolution No. 2016-C56, designating the Mayor or his designee, City Manager, as
the authorized representatives to sign the contract and all documents necessary to accompany
the contract, including all amendments to said contract within fiscal years 2016-2020.
DISCUSSION:
The Azusa Senior Center Elderly Nutrition Program (Program) currently caters to (400+)
unduplicated individuals and serves over (39,000) meals annually to the elderly of the community

(approximately 160 per day). The Elderly Nutrition Program is an integral part of the services the
Azusa Senior Center offers to residents. The purpose of the Elderly Nutrition Program is to offer a
nutritious lunch and to provide a place of socialization and gathering.
The Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging has awarded the City $107,574 annually for fiscal
years 2016 through 2020. The estimated amount for this four year period is $430,296. As a recipient
of these funds, it is required that the City submit a Resolution designating an authorized
representative to sign the contract and all related documents.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions.

AUTHORIZING SIGNING OF DOCUMENTS
AND ACCEPTANCE OF FUNDS
For Elderly Nutrition Program

The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as Follows:
WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Azusa designate and authorize Mayor, Joseph R.
Rocha and his designee, City Manager, Troy L. Butzlaff, to sign the contract and other
necessary documents for Older American Act Funds on behalf of the said City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby:
1. Designates the Mayor, or his designee, City Manager, Troy L. Butzlaff, as the
authorized representatives to sign the contract and all documents necessary to
accompany the contract, including all amendments to said contract within the
above mentioned fiscal years.
2. To approve and accept the estimated funding amount of $107,574 per year for
fiscal years 2016 - 2020.
