BUTZLAFF, ICMA-CM, CITY MANAGER FROM: JOE JACOBS, DIRECTOR OF RECREATION AND FAMILY SERVICES DATE: AUGUST 15, 2016 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT FROM LOS ANGELES COUNTY AREA AGENCY ON AGING FOR THE SENIOR CENTER ELDERLY NUTRITION PROGRAM. SUMMARY: The City of Azusa, Recreation and Family Services Department, has been awarded a grant from the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging. The total grant for fiscal years 2016 – 2020 is $430,296 ($107,574 annually). This action accepts the grant award from Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1) Accept the grant award from Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging. DISCUSSION: Since 1978, the City has provided meals to seniors within the community. Upon receipt of Federal Older American Act funding, these meals are funded in part by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging. The acceptance of these funds assists with providing approximately 39,000 congregate and home delivered meals annually to seniors within the community.
