CHRISTIANSEN, FAICP ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DATE: JULY 18, 2016 SUBJECT: APPROVE EXTENSION OF TERM WITH CSG CONSULTANTS FOR AS NEEDED OUTSIDE BUILDING PLAN CHECK AND INSPECTION SERVICES SUMMARY: On April 1, 2013, the City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with CSG Consultants for as needed outside building plan check and inspection services. The initial term of the PSA was for two years with three, one year extensions. On September 8, 2015, the City Council extended the PSA for one year. This action extends the term with CSG Consultants for outside building plan check and inspection services for one additional year. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1)Approve extension of term with CSG Consultants for as needed outside building plan check and inspection services for a one year, in an amount not to exceed $100,000. 2) Authorize the City Manager to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate the extension of the term. DISCUSSION: On May1, 2013, the City entered into a PSA with CSG Consultants to provide building plan check services. The initial agreement was for a two year period, with three, one year extensions. The consultant has performed well during the initial two years. The PSA provides that the initial term can be extended up to three one year terms. This would be the second extension of the agreement. APPROVED COUNCIL MEETING 7/18/2016 Extension of Term with CSG July 18, 2016 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: Although the PSA is capped at $100,000 per year, there will be no direct fiscal impact to the City associated with this action as building plan check and inspection fees collected by the City cover the consultant’s costs.
