SUBJECT: 2016 SUMMER MEETING SCHEDULE
SUMMARY:
Since 2009, it has been the tradition of the City Council to not hold Council meetings in August. In an
effort to better manage the City’s business calendar and to avoid lengthy breaks between meetings, the
City Manager is proposing that the City Council meet once a month July through September. This action
establishes the Summer Meeting Schedule for 2016.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1) Review the proposed Summer Meeting Schedule and provide direction to Staff.
DISCUSSION:
Since 2009, the City Council has canceled the regular meetings for the month of August to allow
employees and City Council Members to schedule time off to be with their families. In an effort to better
manage the City’s business calendar and to avoid lengthy breaks between meetings, the City Manager is
proposing that the City Council meet once a month July through September. Based on this schedule the
City Council will hold a meeting on July 18th, August 15th, and September 19, 2016. Should an
emergency arise a special meeting can be called.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action.
