Irwindale Avenue, San Gabriel Avenue, Citrus Avenue, First Street, and Baseline Road. The project
improvements include new radios, traffic controllers, wiring, conduits, fiber optics or wireless
connections, 100 mile-per-hour rated traffic signal poles, vehicle heads, pedestrian heads, video
detection cameras, and a centralized traffic control and monitoring system. These improvements will
promote coordinated traffic operations with neighboring cities and multi-jurisdictional cooperation with
the ultimate goal of improving mobility and alleviate congestion by remotely controlling the
synchronization and timing of the intersections to maximize traffic flow. A project location map is
attached for reference.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total estimated project cost is $5,845,817. The City will receive $3,507,490 in Proposition C grant
funds, equivalent to 60% of the project cost. The remaining 40%, $2,338,327, will be funded with
Measure R Bond proceeds.
