The City Council of the City o£ -Azusa
met in regular session at the above time
;- and place.
Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Hernandez, Memmesheimer, Jones, City Attorney
and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Seltzer ROLL CALL
and City Engineer Brooks.
City Engineer -Brooks entered the meeting aid
took his seat near the Council table.

of improvement or another exit be achieved

City Engineer Brooks reported on the bids
submitted on turbine pump for Well No. 3,
recommending the bids be rejected and authoriz-

that the leak in the present pump may
be repaired.
Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer Council reject
all bids on pumps and the City Clerk be
instructed to return checks and bonds
submitted with the bids.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: Councilmen: Hernandez.
Absent: Councilman: Seltzer.
No action taken on the bids submitted on
copper wire and used office equipment.
Mrs. George W. Fuhr and Mrs. Anne L.
Smith were present and submitted written
requests that Mr. Charles Thomas be employed
as humane officer. Councilmen Jackson and
Memmesheimer stated that they were in favor
of employing Mr. Thomas; Councilman Hernandez
was not in favor and Mayor Jones stated that
the matter had been tabled.
The Park and Recreation Commission recommended
that Mr. Leo Luevanos' request to remove a
tree be granted.
Moved by Councilman Hernandez, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer Council accept the
recommendation of the Park and Recreation
Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None ,Absent: Councilman: Seltzer.
A requestfor improvements in the Scout Hall
was offered.
Moved by,Councilman Jackson, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer this matter be re-
ferred to the Park and Recreation Commission
for recommendation.

Board were read relative to the step raises
for employees in the Light and Water Depart-
ment and the $15.00 cost of living raise for STEP RAISES AND COST OF
all employees•. LIVING RAISE TABLED
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded
by Councilman Jackson and duly carried
this matter be.held over until after the
final meeting on the budget.
Chief Kendrick addressed Council and request-
ed that he be given permission to withdraw
his letter advising Council of the employ-
ment of Raymond L. Guardado, stating that
he wished to require the Personnel Board to
furnish him with a list of three names of
men certified for the position and who are
willing to serve.

the use of the City bleachers.
The matter of a Special Census was discussed
and referred to the City Attorney to report
back.
A letter from the United Savings and Loan
relative to a drainage easem3nt was r ead.

to the Cit y.Engineer to check and report
back before the City Attorney can draw the
resolution requested.

Mr. Alfred Naccarata made application for

business license be issued to Mr. Naccarata.
The City Engineer reported on the improvement
of certain streets with relation to the
subdivision Tract No. 18318 (Cherry Associates
and Hadley Associates).
Moved by Councilman Hernandez, seconded by
Councilman Jackson and duly carried this
matter be held over until after the final
meeting on the budget.
A letter and copy of a resolution acb pted
by the City of Inglewood relative to the
sales tax was read.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded
by Councilman Jackson and duly carrie d the
City Attorney be instructed to draw a
resolution opposing the sales tax as pro-
posed by the County Board of Supervisors,
with instructions that copies be mailed to
the State Senator, Congressman and Governor.
A letter from the City Manager of the City
of Arcadia with reference to the increase
in gas rates was read.
