HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-5 Fifth Amendment to the 2001-2005 Captital Improvemnt Projecs Budget and Notice of Completion on Memorial Park Backstop Fencing Project 111 re4 AZUSA CONSENT CALENDAR TO: THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: RANDY NORIEGA, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF RECREATION VIA: RICK COLE, CITY MANAGER — DATE: AUGUST 6, 2001 SUBJECT: FIFTH AMENDMENT TO THE 2001-2005 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGET AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ON THE MEMORIAL PARK BACKSTOP FENCING PROJECT RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City Council approve a fifth amendment to the 2001-2005 Capital Improvement Projects Budget by appropriating $6,955 dollars of FY2002 Quimby Funds to the Memorial Park Backstop Fencing Project; and,approve the notice of completion of the Memorial Park backstop fencing project. BACKGROUND: This project was funded by prior year Proposition A funds in the amount of $55,000. Some unanticipated additions to the project were incurred as the project was constructed. Those changes are described below. • One additional fence pole, $100 • Additional section of backstop wood, $175 • Additional labor charges to hand dig 17 six foot deep pole holes. Backstop area was so rocky that the contractors backhoe could not dig the pole holes without enlarging the holes beyond acceptable diameter, $6,000 • Rebar fence pole cages for the 30' poles were not part of our specifications and were later required by inspectors. 17 rebar cages, $2,465 • Performance bond was not required in original specifications and was later added, $2,497.75 Additional fence replacement is needed on the southeast field backstop and that is projected to be done through Prop 12 funds in early 2002. AGENDA ITEM-MEMORIAL PARK FENCE PROJECT PAGE TWO FISCAL IMPACT: The bid price to Warren Fence was $50,958.9. The Capital Improvements Budget will be amended by adding$6,955 dollars in Quimby funds to the$55,000 Proposition A Funds already authorized for a total project cost of $61,955. /dls 01-155
