SUBJECT: FIFTH AMENDMENT TO THE 2001-2005 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
BUDGET AND NOTICE OF COMPLETION ON THE MEMORIAL PARK BACKSTOP
FENCING PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve a fifth amendment to the 2001-2005 Capital
Improvement Projects Budget by appropriating $6,955 dollars of FY2002 Quimby Funds to the
Memorial Park Backstop Fencing Project; and, approve the notice of completion of the Memorial
Park backstop fencing project.
BACKGROUND:
This project was funded by prior year Proposition A funds in the amount of $55,000. Some
unanticipated additions to the project were incurred as the project was constructed. Those
changes are described below.
• One additional fence pole, $100
• Additional section of backstop wood, $175
• Additional labor charges to hand dig 17 six foot deep pole holes. Backstop area was so rocky
that the contractors backhoe could not dig the pole holes without enlarging the holes beyond
acceptable diameter, $6,000
• Rebar fence pole cages for the 30' poles were not part of our specifications and were later
required by inspectors. 17 rebar cages, $2,465
• Performance bond was not required in original specifications and was later added, $2,497.75
Additional fence replacement is needed on the southeast field backstop and that is projected to
be done through Prop 12 funds in early 2002.
