The meeting of the Azusa City Council scheduled
for the above time and place was adjourned due
to lack of quorum.

CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, DECEMBER 159 1952 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson.,
Hernandez, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones,
City Attorney Snidow, City Engineer Brooks ROLL CALL
and Deputy City Clerk. Absent: City Clerk.
Each member present acknowledged receipt
of a written copy of the minutes of the
regular meeting of December 1, 1952. The
Mayor asked if there were any objections
or corrections to same. There being none
the minutes of the regular meeting of
December 1, 1952 were approved as written.
The Clerk announced that two bids had been
received in answer to Notice Inviting Bids
for Pipe.
Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by
Councilman Jackson and duly carried the bids
be now opened, examined and publicly declared.
SOUTHERN PIPE & CASING COMPANY
JOHNS-MANSVILLE SALES CORPORATION
Utilities Commissioner Jackson recommended
that the bid of Southern Pipe and Casing
Company be accepted.
' Moved by Councilman Memm3sheimer, seconded
by Councilman Seltzer this recommendation be
accepted, the bid be awarded to Southern
Pipe and Casing Company, and the check or
bond be returned to the unsuccessful bidder.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Hernandez,
Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: None
City Attorney Snidow presented a resolution
which he had been instructed to prepare,
relative to the request of John Conforti
for a zone variance to operate a day nursery
school on property described as Lot 12,
Tract #14336 - the northeast corner of Lemon
Avenue -and Paramount Street, granting of said
request having been recommended by the Planning
Commission.
Mr. A. S. Vandenberg, representing the
Bently Estate, requested that Council give
further consideration to this matter before
adopting said resolution, stating that through
' a misunderstanding of dates of hearing held
by the Planning Commission, he had not been
given the opportunity to express his ob-
jections to said variance. He thereupon
outlined reasons that he felt the request
of Mr. Conforti should be denied.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded
by Councilman Jackson this matter be re-
ferred back to the Planning Commission
for additional hearing and Mr. Vandenberg
be notified of the date of said hearing.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
