HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-11 Staff Report - Amendment to Agrrement with Carl Warren and CompanyCONSENT ITEM E-11 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: TANYA BRAGG, DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2018 SUBJECT: AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR LIABILITY CLAIMS THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR - CARL WARREN & COMPANY BACKGROUND: Carl Warren & Company is the City’s Third Party Administrator (TPA) for liability claims since 1985. The City of Azusa participated in the Independent Cities Risk Management Authority (ICRMA) for pooling of risk along with a number of other Southern California cities. Carl Warren & Company is one of the two liability third party administrators approved for use by ICRMA members. Although the City of Azusa is now participating in the California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (CJPIA) for pooling of risk, there are still five open claims managed by Carl Warren & Company under ICRMA until the cases are closed. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1)Approve amendment of the attached two-year service agreement between the City of Azusa and Carl Warren & Company. ANALYSIS: Then proposed amendment to the two-year service agreement will be from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020 unless earlier terminated, includes the option to review, approve and extend the term of the contract for additional two year periods APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 10/1/2018 Amendment Agreement October 1, 2018 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: No additional fiscal impact. The costs associated with this agreement are within the amount budgeted in the Human Resources/Risk Management Insurance Claims Administration account.
