HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-16 Staff Report - Waive Auditorium fees Chamber of CommerceCONSENT ITEM E-16 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR, MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: ADRIAN GARCIA, MMC, CHIEF DEPUTY CITY CLERK DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2018 SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM AZUSA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO WAIVE FEES FOR THE USE OF THE AZUSA AUDITORIUM BACKGROUND: On September 17, 2018, the City received an application from the Azusa Chamber of Commerce, for the use of the Azusa Auditorium on October 22, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in order to conduct a Candidates’ Forum for the candidates who are on the ballot of the General Election of November 6, 2018 for Azusa Unified School Board and San Gabriel Valley Water Board. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: 1)Waive soft cost of rental fee associated with the use of the auditorium of $150 and recover hard costs for Custodian fee (Staff Time) of $80. ANALYSIS: The Azusa Chamber of Commerce has requested the use of the Azusa Auditorium on October 22, 2018 to hold a Candidates’ Forum for individuals running for School Board and Water Board. As the applicant, the Azusa Chamber of Commerce has requested that all fees associated with the use of the auditorium be waived. Per the City’s Resolution of Fees and Charges, the cost for use of the auditorium is $100 per hour after 4:00 p.m. and a 25% discount for Azusa-based non-profit organizations. There is also a Custodian cost (Staff Time) of $40 per hour. Per the auditorium policy, only the City Council can waive these fees.
