HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - July 20, 2006 - PRC MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION—July 20, 2006 The meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by CALL TO ORDER David Santellan, who also led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. PRESENT: Joe Torres, Carlos Udria, Condie Lopez, Pam Mercado, Rossana Helbert and ROLL CALL David Santellan STAFF: Joe Jacobs, Director of Recreation and Family Services Roy Chavez, Park Supervisor GUESTS: Bruce Coleman, Director of Community Development Roy Bruckner, City Consultant Robert Person, Asst. City Manager Mark Dickerson, APU Brian Hogan, ALP Wallace Vang, ALP Bob Trapp, ALP Marianne Love, SGV Tribune Jorge Rosales, Resident Minutes of June 15, 2006, were approved with the following correction: on a motion by MINUTES APPROVED Pam Mercado, seconded by Joe Torres,the action taken with respect to park amenities at Rosedale was deleted procedurally due to the fact that the presentation was not agenized. Consent calendar item # 1-2, were approved with standard fees, conditions and/or CONSENT CALENDAR modifications as noted, on a motion by Condie Lopez, seconded by Joe Torres. ITEMS: 1. Request use of Senior Center on September 2, 2006 from 10:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m. SHIBLEY SR. CENTER 9/2 from Daniel &Fouzia Shibley for wedding ceremony. 2. Request use of Memorial Park gym on Sundays from September 24 to December CHAMPION YOUTH MPK 10, 2006 from 10:00 -12:00 p.m. by Bill Metzler for youth basketball. GYM SUNDAYS Staff updated Commission on all programs and projects. STAFF UPDATE Azusa Land Partners presented conceptual designs for park amenities in the Rosedale CEREMONIAL/PUBLIC Project. These concepts were approved on a 4-1 vote and recommended to City Council PARTICIPATION ON with the following considerations/contingencies,on a motion by David Santellan,seconded ROSEDALE PROJECT by Rossana Helbert. 1. Men/Women restrooms in all the parks. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. ADJOURN Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial NEXT MEETING 8/3/06 Park Recreation Center.
