Present at Roll call: Councilkmen: Jackson, Hernandez, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones City Attorney, City Engineer and City Clerk. ' Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of July 20, 1953, The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to the minutes. Councilman Jackson wished correction made regarding the motion made by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Seltzer that men who have resigned from the Police Department be notified they may report to the Acting Chief and, subject to his re- commendation, be reinstated or names placed on eligible list. Councilman Jackson said Correction of that he had originally seconded this motion minutes of and had not withdrawn his second. July 20,1953 Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer records be corrected to read as follows: "Moved by Councilm4n Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jackson, that men who have re- signed from the Police Department be notified they may report to the Acting Police Chief and on condition of acceptability to department head and subject to his recommendation to City ' Council, they may be reinstated or names placed on eligible list." Councilman Hernandez disqualified himself from voting. Motion carried by following vote of Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Memmesheimer, Jopes Noes; Councilman.Seltzer Mayor Jones then announced the minutes of July 20th, 1953 stand as corrected. Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer and carried by unanimous vote, City Attorney be instructed to inform writer that, Council indicated their willingness to enter into City agrees ' such an agreement as stated, provided the sur- to share rounding cities also agree to share cost, on a cost of one year period, and cost to City of Azusa not Civil Defens to exceed approximately $800.Q0. Concerts to be free to the public, the cost to be charged to Music and Promotional Fund. OF41.30 PER HOUR, _• .._. _. - _ From information available it seems the Personnel Board had not given proper notice for hearing and It is the attorney's opinton that the procedure taken in the matter of the appeal is incorrect and the question is raised of the eligibility of board members because of business dealing with the city, The dismissal of Albert Kendrick, in his opinion, was within the province of the Council, Attorney Snidow suggested findings of Personnel Board be ' Filed and action deferred until snoh time as record of hearing is obtained, Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Coun- cilman Hernandez, and carried by a unanimous vote, the findings of the Personnel Board be filed with the City Clerk and made a.part of record. Councilman Jackson moved to amend the motion in- creasing the library rate to 20¢0 seconded by Coun- cilman Memmesheimer.
