answer to -Notice Inviting Bids on police car.

and was seated,
Letter submitted by Chief McDonald requesting
the abolition of the position of Assistant
Chief of Police, stating such position is
unnecessary in a department of this size.
Also submitted and read was the following
etter by Chief McDonald:
' 'I respectfully request that Officer Rolf
Nagnell, who is now acting as Assistant
Chief of Police, be reinstated to his orig-
inal Civil Service classification as Ser-
geant and�be assigned to the motor squad
effective September 16,1953."

Discussion followed regarding the legal status

that of abolishing the position of Assis-
tant Chief of Police only, and motion was
seconded by Councilman Jones,

Attorney, City Engineer and Supt. Smith of

Street, to be moved to location across the
