Aspen Avenue. This is located in M-1 zone. The applicant desires to use the garage building for a small wood- working shop and possibly a small machine shop, the existing building on the property to be used for storage. Granting of request approved by Planning Commission in meeting of Sept. 16th. Councilman Seltzer entered Council chamber and was seated. Moved by Councilman Hernandez recommendation of Planning Commission be accepted subject to ' building department specifications and Council- man Memmesheimer agreed to second the motion if Councilman Hernandez would amend the motion to include the -shop building only. Motion carried unanimously& Regarding the Petitions for 1911 Act improve- ments on SouthLouiseAvenue and South Orange Avenue, work is_being awaited from O'Melveny and Myers whether or not these could be' -com- bined as one district in order to spread the cost of incidental expenses. An insufficient number of names were submitted on a petition for 1911 Act improvements on streets between Alameda and Pasadena Avenues and between First and Fifth Streets. Councilman Jackson stated the need for a footbridge across Dalton wash on Azusa Ave. Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Councilman Seltzer, and duly carried, City Engineer be instructed to investigate matter of constructing a bootbridge across the Dalton wash on Azusa Avenue and report at next meeting. _ Councilman Memmesheimer offered the following Ordinance for first reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, GRANTING TO PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY COMPANY, A-COR- PORATION,_ITS SUCCESSORS_AND ASSIGNS,,THE -, RIGHT.TO CONSTRUCT, -.MAINTAIN, AND OPERATE STARDARb'GAUGE RAILROAD TRACKS ACROSS MOTOR AND IRWINDALE.,AVENUE$-IN THE: CITY--OFIAZUSA. Mr. Gil Ross addressed the Council on behalf of the industries now located on that street. Adequate water supply for fire protection wag stressed as was the acute dust problem which has plagued the homes in that neighborhood. Councilman Memmesheimer moved that, in view of the 11¢ per sq. ft. price stated, the Engineering Department shall check and see if it can be done at this price and if the 11¢ maximum is not ex- ceeded in the split of labor and materials costs, a contract shall be entered into whereby the city will furnish labor and the property owners will furnish materials, and upon completion the street will be dedicated to the city. He stated Mr. Avedesian submitted schedule based on an 8 day_collection basis, with an increase in pay required to give this additional service. This change would be enacted upon the cancella- tion of present contract. The new schedule would be followed for two months without addi- tional pay in order to enable the council to make new financial arrangements for an added rate.
