The meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa scheduled for Oct. 15, 1953 was Meeting adjourned for lack of quorum until October adjounced 16.9"1953, CITY HALL AZUSA, CALIFORNIA OCTOBER 16, 1953 7:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in ' adjourned meeting at the, above time and place. Present at Roll Call: Councilmen: Barry, Ortuno Johnson, Memmesheimer, Jackson City Attorney, City Engineer, and City Clerk. All members present gave pledge_of Allegiance to the Flag. The Mayor asked if members of Council had received written copies of minutes of meetings held on Oct. 5th and Oct. 6th, and if there were any corrections. There being none, the minutes were approved. 11 City Attorney Tscharner received Oath of Office and Loyalty Oath administered by City_Clerk. _ The following list of appointments -submitted by Mayor Jackson: Chffirman of Public Works --Stephen V. Barry, Jr. it Public Utilities--Anthony-Ortuno Police & Fire De t p q. --Louis Memmesheimer Finance &_Purchasing --Mrs. Martha Johnson Auditing Committee:,, ' Councilmen: Barry,.Ortuno, Johnson Council representative --Park & Recreation Commission Mrs. Martha Johnson Planning Commission Louis Memmesheimer Ex -Officio Member of each Department--Mpyor Jackson Councilman Ortuno desired to exchange chairmanships with Councilman Barry, Councilman Barry pointed out that he was a Profes- sional Registered Electrical Engineer and felt he could serve the City better if he was connected with Public Utilities. The following vote was taken on these recommendations: Chairman of Public Works -Councilman Stephen Barry Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Memmesheimer, Jackson Noes: Councilmen: Barry, Ortuno Chairman of Public -Utilities --Anthony M. Ortuno Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Memmesheimer, Jackson Noes: Councilmen: Barry, Ortuno Moved by Councilman Johnson, seconded by Councilman Jackson, the office of Police Commissioner be reinstated. .Motion carried by following vote of Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Johnson, Memmesheimer, Jackson Noes: Councilmen: Barry, Ortuno Councilman Barry expressdd the feeling that this recommendation was not in the best interest of the City.
