do arise. These concerted efforts have earned ALW the RP3 (Reliable Public Power Provider)
designation which recognizes the Utility as one of the most reliable electric providers in the
industry.
To celebrate Public Power Week, Azusa residents may pick up LED light bulbs at the Customer
Service lobby on October 9-11 any time during office hours from 7:00 am-5:30 pm. Distribution
is limited to 2 light bulbs per household, while supplies last. Staff will also distribute
energy/water conservation information and giveaways to walk-in customers on October 11 from
8:00 am-10:00 am. Public Power Week will also be promoted online via social media, website,
reader board, customer email, and flyers.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost for the purchase of LED lights and other promotional materials is $2,000. Funds are
available in Public Benefit FY 2018-19 budget account 24-40-739-085-6625.

WHEREAS, we, the citizens of the City of Azusa, place high value on local control over
community services and therefore have chosen to operate a community-owned,
not-for-profit electric utility; and
WHEREAS, Azusa Light & Water provides our homes, businesses, schools, social service, and
local government agencies with reliable, efficient, and cost-effective electricity
employing sound business practices designed to ensure the best possible service at
not-for-profit rates; and
WHEREAS, Azusa Light & Water is a valuable community asset that contributes to the well-
being of local citizens through energy efficiency, customer service, environmental
protection, economic development, and safety awareness; and
WHEREAS, our community joins hands with more than 2,000 other public power systems in
the United States in the celebration of public power, which is best for consumers,
business, the community, and the nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa unites to proclaim October 7-13, 2018
as
“Public Power Week”
in the City of Azusa; further, we commend Azusa Light & Water for its contributions to the
community in providing low-cost, safe, reliable electricity to community homes and businesses just as
it has since 1904, the year when the utility was created to serve all the citizens of Azusa.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have here unto set our hands and caused the Seal of the City of
Azusa to be affixed this Twenty-fourth day of September, Two Thousand Eighteen.
