HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - May 1, 2003 MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION -May 1, 2003 The meeting was called to order at 5:31 p.m.by David Santellan who also led the group in CALL TO ORDER the Pledge of Allegiance. ��SENT: Carlos Udria, Pam Mercado, Tiffany Adamson and David Santellan ROLL CALL STAFF: Joe Jacobs, Director of Recreation and Family Services Roy Chavez,Acting Parks Supervisor ABSENT: Joe Torres,Johnny Sanchez EXCUSED: Mary Sandlin There were no minutes to approve, as there was no quorum at meeting of April 17, 2003. MINUTES APPROVED Consent calendar items #1-7 were approved with standard fees, conditions, and or CONSENT CALENDAR modifications on a motion by Carlos Udria, seconded by Tiffany Adamson. ITEMS: 1. Request use of Northside Park with on Wednesdays, May-September, 2003 from NSPK NORTHROP 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. from Northrop Grumman for softball games. GRUMMAN WED. 5-7 2. Request use of Memorial Park room 5 and kitchen on Saturday,June 21, 2003 from TORRES MPK ROOM 5 & 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. for Marilyn Torres for baby shower. KITCHEN 6/21 12-7PM 3. Request use of moon bounce on Saturday, May 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ANDALON MOON from Rocio Andalon for birthday party. BOUNCE 5/24 4. Request use of Northside and Memorial Park ballfields on June 28, 2003 from 8:00 MPK&NSPK FIELDS 6/28 a.m. -5:00 p.m.from Canyon City Softball for softball tournament. 8-5 SOFTBALL TOURNEY 5. Request use of moon bounce at Memorial Park on Friday,June 20,2003 from 12:00 PLAZA DE IA RAZA p.m.-6:00 p.m. from Plaza de la Raza for end of the year party. MOON BOUNCE 6/20 �.. Request use of Pioneer Park northeast section on Sunday, August 31, 2003 from VALENCIA PIONEER PARK 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. from Ramona Valencia for reunion. 8/31 11-7 7. Request use of Memorial Park athletic field on Thursday, June 19, 2003 from 8:30 SLAUSON SCHOOL MPK a.m.-11:50 a.m. from Slauson School (Tom Maroste) for baseball game and lunch. FIELD 6/19 8:30-1 1:50 Staff updated Commission on all programs and projects. Roy Chavez was introduced as STAFF UPDATE New Parks Supervisor. The Commission congratulated Roy on his promotion. Commission concerns included the following: COMMISSION 1. Clarification on JAAF snack bar usage dates (Mercado) CONCERNS 2. Possibility of Yoga being added to adult class line-up (Adamson) Staff to research on both issues and report at next meeting. (5/15/03) ADJOURN With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m. NEXT MEETING Next meeting to be held on Thursday, May 15, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Recreation Center.
