PRESENT: David Santellan, Condie Lopez, Pam Mercado, Mary Sandlin, Joe Torres, ROLL CALL Johnny Sanchez STAFF: Randy Noriega, Associate Director of Recreation and Parks ABSENT: Carlos Udria EXCUSED: Minutes of January 3, 2002 were approved, motioned by Mary Sandlin, seconded by MINUTES APPROVED Condie Lopez. Consent calendar items 1 and late agenda items 2-9 and 11-15 were approved with CONSENT CALENDAR standard fees, conditions, and or modifications to applications as noted; motioned by ITEMS: Condie Lopez, seconded by Johnny Sanchez. Item #10 was denied due to conflict with Recreation Department program. VILLALPANDO MPK 1. Request by Melissa Villalpando to use Memorial Park room #5 on January 26, ROOM 5 1-26-02 2002, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a birthday party. SCHUSTER MPK ROOM 2. Request from Craig Schuster to use Memorial Park room #5 on February 9, 2002 5 ON 2-9-02 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a birthday party. SORNOSO PIONEER Request from Henry Sornoso to reserve Pioneer Park N/E section on April 13, PARK ON 4-13-02 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a wedding anniversary party. SPINKS MPK ROOM 5 4. Request from Glendora Spinks to use Memorial Park room #5 on February 16, ON 2-16-02 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for a baby shower. AZUSA REC DEPT CITY 5. Request from Recreation Department to reserve City Hall Complex front lawn and HALL FRONT LAWN 4- auditorium on April 28, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Cinco de Mayo 28-02 FOR 5 DE MAYO special event. AZUSA REC DEPT 6. Request from Recreation Department to use various department equipment on EQUIPMENT 4-28-02 April 28, 2002 for Cinco de Mayo special event. GONZALES MPK ROOM 7. Request from Ana Gonzales to use Memorial Park room #5 for a wedding and 5 ON 3-2-02 reception on March 2, 2002 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Approved with special condition of adding a security guards to enforce rental guidelines. GHS BOOTHS ON 1-24- 8. Request from Gladstone High School to use 10 carnival booths on January 24-28 28-02 for fund raiser, District must pick up and return. RIOS MPL ROOM 5 PM 9. Request from Cynthia Rios to use Memorial Park room #5 on January 27, 2002 1-27-02 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a birthday party. CLUB AZUSA SOCCER 10. Request from Club Deportivo Athletico de Azusa to use the Northside Park Soccer FIELD NSPK Field on Tuesday and Thursday January 22, 2002 to June 2002 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. denied conflict with Department program. CANYON CITY SOFTBALL 11. Request from Canyon City Softball to use Northside and Memorial Park ball fields NSPK/MPK 2-16-02 on February 16, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a softball tournament. DIAZ PIONEER PARK ON 12. Request from Suzette Diaz to reserve Pioneer Park on February 23, 2002 from 2-23-02 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a birthday party. CHAVEZ PIONEER PARK 11. Request from Christina Chavez to use Pioneer Park on January 26, 2002 from ON 1-26-02 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a birthday party. MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION - PAGE 2 14. Request from Azusa Golden Days Committee to use the Memorial Park lounge GOLDEN DAYS meeting room on the 4th Wednesday of the month for monthly meetings from COMMITTEE MPK 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in 2002. LOUNGE Request to use Memorial Park room #5 on November 30, 2002 from 4:00 ENRIQUEZ MPK ROOM p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a Quinceanera 15th birthday party. Approved with 5 ON 11-30-02 special condition of adding a security guards to enforce rental guidelines. Staff updated Commission on ongoing programs and Department activities. STAFF UPDATE Associate Director Randy Noriega requested two Commission Members to serve on PARK MASTER PLAN the Park Master Plan Steering Committee, Johnny Sanchez and Condie Lopez MEMBERS volunteered to serve on the committee. Commission was given Park Evaluation forms to complete as part of their monthly PARK EVALUATION park visitation and inspections. Park Commissioners will report back on the condition FORMS of their assigned park on the second meeting of each month. First reports and completed forms are due at the February 21, 2002 meeting. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m. ADJOURN Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 7, 2002, at 5:00 p.m. at the NEXT MEETING Memorial Park Recreation Center.
