The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Harry Hoke, Mary Sandlin led the CALL TO ORDER
up in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PRESENT: Harry Hoke, Johnny Sanchez, Condie Lopez, David Santellan, Mary ROLL CALL

STAFF: Randy Noriega, Associate Director of Recreation and Parks

Minutes of the April 19, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted, motioned by MINUTES APPROVED
David Santellan, seconded by Condie Lopez.
Late consent calendar items #1 and #3-8 were approved with standard fees and CONSENT CALENDAR
conditions, and or modifications to applications as noted; motioned by Mary ITEMS:
Sandlin, seconded by Johnny Sanchez. Item #2 was tabled for more information.
1. Request from Mauricio Castillo to use Pioneer Park on May 26, 2001 from CASTILLO PIONEER
12 p.m. to 6 p.m. for 50-60 people for baptism party. PARK 5-26-01
2. Request from Access Health Networks to use a room at Memorial Park ACCESS HEALTH
Recreation Center on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a community NETWORK ROOM AT
outreach affordable insurances. Tabled for more information. MPK
�.. Informational only - Glendora Unified School District summer day camp GUSD SWIM AT SPK
informed us they will attend an open to the public recreational swim session POOL
on 8-24-01.
4. Request from Azusa Head Start to use various equipment for their Open AZUSA HEAD START
House on 5-16-01 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EQUIPMENT USE
5. Request from Yoshiko Maeda to reserve Pioneer Park on 5/19/01 from 11* MAEDA FAMILY
a.m. to 4 p.m. for 65-85 people for a birthday party.
6. Request from St. Frances of Rome Church to use various equipment for their ST. FRANCES OF
annual festival on June 8-10, 2001. Equipment must be picked up by St. ROME USE OF
Frances and returned. No city staff will be authorized to deliver and set up EQUIPMENT 6/8-
and return equipment. Staff has concerns about e-z ups canopies being 10/01
loaned out.
7. Request from the Rubio Family of Azusa to use Pioneer Park on 5-27-01 from RUBIO PIONEER PARK
7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 100-150 people for a family reunion. 5-27-01
8. Request from Joe Rocha to use various equipment for the annual Memorial ROCHA EQUIPMENT
Day Ceremony on 5-28-01 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. 5-28-01
Informational: Rosie Alvarez submitted a letter/request to waive the NO animals
on the Park Municipal Code Law for the pony ride attraction for her daughters
birthday in July 2001. After discussion the Commission ruled not to allow the
��imal attraction on the park as per the Azusa Municipal Code.
Staff updated Commission on ongoing and upcoming Recreation activities as well STAFF UPDATE AND

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:49 p.m. MTG. ADJOURNED
