The group conducted the CALL TO ORDER Pledge of Allegiance. ESENT: David Santellan, Harry Hoke, Joe Torres, Condie Lopez, Donna McCormick, ROLL CALL Mary Sandlin and Johnny Sanchez STAFF: ndy Noriega, Associate Director of Recreation and Parks Roy Chavez, Acting Park Supervisor Ross Montes, Sr. Tree Trimmer ABSENT: EXCUSED: GUEST: David Gan Minutes of February 15, 2001 were approved. Motioned by Donna McCormick, MINUTES APPROVED seconded by Joe Torres. Consent calendar items 1, 3,4 and 5 were approved with standard fees,conditions,and CONSENT CALENDAR or modifications to applications as noted: motioned by Mary Sandlin, seconded by ITEMS: Donna McCormick. Item number 2 was pulled for discussion. After discussion item #2 was approved with standard fees,special conditions and modifications to application as noted. Motioned by Mary Sandlin, seconded by Johnny Sanchez. 1. Request from Murray School to use (3) pancake grills for school fund raiser on MURRAY SCHOOL April 7, 2001 from 7-11 a.m. GRILLS ON 4-7-01 "'Z. April from the Azusa Renaissance Center to use the Memorial Park gym for AZUSA RENAISSANCE theatrical performances on May 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 2001 from 6:00 -10:00 CENTER USE OF GYM p.m. ON 5-18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 2001. A. Standard fees will be approved. Any fee reduction or waiving of fees must come from City Council. Any fee reduction or waiving of fee shall result in the contribution of fee admission tickets (50) to be used to admit local children to the production. It is recommended that fee should a least cover department operating costs. B. Liability insurance must be provided. 1 million dollar certifying the City of Azusa as additional insured. C. All props, sound systems, background scenery must be inspected for safety. D. The production must meet the public standard for general audiences. It must meet the G standard used by the movie industry. E. If the group approaches the City Council for a fee waiver or reduction the Recreation and Parks Department would request up to 50 free tickets per performance to be given away to local children to view the production. 3. Request from Yvonne Garcia to use the Memorial Park Recreation Center room GARCIA FAMILY MPK 4- #5 on April 28 from 12-4 p.m. for a Baby Shower. 28, 12-4 4. Request from Terri Shannon of West Covina to use Pioneer Park on March 17, SHANNON FAMILY from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. for 50 people for a birthday party. PIONEER - 3/17 8-8:30 L;. Request from Cindy Armendariz to use the Memorial Park Recreation Center ARMENDARIZ-MPK 3/5 room #5 on March 5, from 10 to 5 p.m. for a Bridal Shower. 10-5 PAGE TWO Staff updated Commission on ongoing and upcoming Recreation activities. STAFF UPDATE Staff responded to Commissions inquiry about size and health of trees being planted by the department. Samples of 24 inch box and 15 gallon trees were displayed for ,mmission to view. Staff informed Commission on the standards used for all trees trsed in our tree planting program. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35p.m. ADJOURN Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 15, 2001, at 5:00 p.m. at the Memorial NEXT MEETING Park Recreation Center.
