meeting was called to order at 5:04 p.m. by Chairperson Mary Sandlin. The CALL TO ORDER
Pledge of Allegiance was conducted.
PRESENT: Joe Ton-es, David Santellan, Johnny Sanchez, Donna McCormick, Harry ROLL CALL
Hoke, Condie Lopez, Mary Sandlin.
OTHERS: Randy Noriega, Recreation Superintendent
Rich Rivera, Parks Supervisor
ABSENT/EXCUSED: None
No meeting was held on October 15, 1998 due to lack of quorum. LACK OF QUORUM
Consent calendar item #1 and late items #2-7 were approved with standard fees CONSENT CALENDAR
and conditions; motioned by David Santellan, seconded by Johnny Sanchez. ITEMS APPROVED
1. Request from Maria Magallanez to use Memorial Park room #5 on Saturday,
December 5, 1998 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and also rent and operate a MARIA MAGALLANEZ
children's inflatable jump in the grass picnic area of the park.
2. Request from City Hall Administration and Downtown Business Association to DOWNTOWN BUSINESS
use a 20 X 24 stage, 100 chairs, 5 eight foot tables, portable P.A. system, and ASSOCIATION
5 EZ-up canopies for Azusa Ave. street scope project grand opening on
December 2, 1998 from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Request from Louie Pedroza in Public Works to use 1-3 EZ-up canopies and 30 VETERANS DAY - LOUIE
chairs on November 11, 1998 for Veterans Day Ceremony at City Hall. PEDROZA
4. Request from Sharon Lewis with Lewis Lock to use Memorial Park room #5 and
grass area to east of gym on December 3, 1998 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. SHARON LEWIS
to conduct a power equipment seminar.
5. Request from Baldon family to use Memorial Park room #5 on Sunday, BALDON FAMILY
November 22, 1998 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. for a family party.
6. Request from Sena family to use Memorial Park room #5 on November 15, SENA FAMILY
1998 from 1:00-6:00 p.m.
7. Request from Senior Programs to use 15 tables on November 5, 1998 for SENIOR PROGRAMS
annual Holiday Boutique.
Program updates on Recreation activities was provided by Recreation RECREATION
Superintendent Randy Noriega. Items updated were Haunted House, Halloween PROGRAM UPDATES
Carnival, Youth and Adult Sports, Special Projects, and Holiday Tree Lighting.
Rich Rivera with Parks Division updated the Commission about ongoing PARKS DIVISION
maintenance and special programs. Items discussed were renovation of front lawn UPDATES
at City Hall, increased work load on crew and the budget shortfall, landscape
maintenance contract, and equipment needs.

Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 1998 at 5:00 p.m. at the NEXT MEETING 11/19/98
Memorial Park Recreation Center.
