HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 2, 1998 - PRC MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION - APRIL 2, 1998 The meeting was called to order at 5:23 p.m. in the Memorial Park lounge meeting CALL TO ORDER room by President Pro-Tern Harry Hoke who then led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. PRIeNT: Harry Hoke, David Santellan, Condie Lopez. John Sanchez, and Chairperson Carolyn Crawford, Senior Services Manager. OTHERS: Mayor Cristina Madrid; Joe Jacobs, Recreation Superintendent; JoAnn Coppola, Head Start Coordinator. vlinutes of March 19, 1998 stand approved as written. MARCH 19T" MINUTES rhe following items were unanimously approved with standard conditions in motion APPROVED py David Santellan, seconded by Condie Lopez: ?equest by Army National Guard to borrow 20 tables and 50 chairs on Saturday, kpril 4, 1998 from 5:00-11:00 p.m. for a military formal dinner. ANG TO USE TABLES AND CHAIRS 'equest by Azusa High School ASB to use 28 booths on Friday, April 17, 1998 from 1:00-8:30 p.m. for a fund raiser for after school sports at Azusa High School. AHS TO USE BOOTHS 'equest by SGVMAA to use day camp room on Thursday, June 4, 1998 from 12:30- :30 p.m. for a general membership meeting. SGVMAA TO USE DAY CAMP ROOM 'equest by Mr. Miguel Laria to use Pioneer Park on Sunday, April 12, 1998 from 1:00- :00L,n. for a birthday party. Suggest that Mr. Laria go out early, approximately M. LARIA TO USE :00-8:00 a.m., to secure his area to avoid a conflict. PIONEER PARK equest from Azusa Head Start to use the gym on Friday, April 3, 1998 from 10:00 .m. to 12 noon. Gladstone High School group is visiting the Head Start children HEAD START TO USE Oh an Easter Bunny visit. Have children and adults remove their shoes while in the GYM ym. JFORMATIONAL ITEMS quest by Anna Vasquez, a Head Start employee, to use the day camp meeting ►om and kitchen on Saturday, March 28, 1998 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. The request A. The HEAD START BUDGET )udget is basically the same as last year. rar )rtation budget report via Carolyn Crawford. Transit funded totally through TRANSPORTATION 'rap A and Prop C monies. Budget this year is short and next year is short by BUDGET 160,000. The budget trimmed part-time driver's hours by 80 hours per week (eight !rivers each lost ten hours per week). Effective immediately, scheduling will be ghter and less flexible. enior Center budget was turned in reflecting the same basic budget. It included SENIOR CENTER )e part-time positions of Site Manager and Receptionist as unfunded. BUDGET 'omans Club fee schedule workshop was held on March 21, 1998 with Council WOMANS CLUB FEE lembers David Hardison and Dick Stanford and representatives from varied SCHEDULE WORKSHOP Dnprofit groups. Pending response of Council members to follow up a memo from arolyn Crawford, the nonprofit groups and all Council members will be notified writing of the meeting results. There will be more discussion before the issue is gain put on the City Council agenda. OGRAM UPDATES BY DIVISION PROGRAM UPDATE ?creation Pony baseball tryouts have been rescheduled three times. Saturday, April 4, 1998 will be recital for recreation classes. -'3turday, April 18, 1998, track meet. �5unday, May 3, 1998 Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held again at City Park. niors Senior Center celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Azusa Senior Nutrition Program on April 3, 1998. ad Start The second formal bid process to replace play yard sand with another approved substance closed with no bidders.
