HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - February 5, 1998 - PRC MINUTES OF AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING --FEBRUARY 5, 1998 L.' meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Chairperson, Mary Sandlin. Harry Hoke led the group in CALL TO ORDER the Pledge of Allegiance. PRESENT: Mary Sandlin, David Santellan, Donna McCormick,John Sanchez,Joe Torres. Condie Lopez& ROLL CALL Harry Hoke OTHERS: Randy Noriega, Carolyn Crawford, Peter MacKay, Rich Rivera&Jo Ann Coppola Motion to approve January 22, 1998 minutes as written by Donna McCormick,seconded by Harry Hoke. Approved. After a brief discussion,it was moved and seconded to approve the consent calendar with the change of the CONSENT CALENDAR Bautista family use of facility to have function end at 10:00 a.m. Motioned by Harry Hoke,seconded by John Sanchez. Approved. 1. Request from Ponce family to use meeting room and kitchen on 2/21/98,from 6:00 p.m.to 10:00 PONCE FAMILY p.m.for 70th Birthday Party. Ponce family has been granted use of facility in the past. RECOMMENDATION: Approve with standard conditions. 2. Request from Azusa National Little League to use Lounge on 2/5/98 from 7:00 p.m.to 8:30 p.m.for NAT'L LITTLE LEAGUE mangers meeting. RECOMMENDATION: Approve use with standard conditions. 3. Request from Bautista Family for use of Room 4 and kitchen on 2/14/98 from 3:00 p.m to 12:00 BAUTISTA FAMILY p.m for birthday party. RECOMMENDATION: Discuss. General Rules and Regulations for use of facilities state that all functions shall be expected to close no later than I0:00 p.m. Randy Noriega addressed Mary Sandlin's question about the new scoreboard in the gym. Randy explained NEW SCOREBOARDS that the scoreboards were a donation from San Dimas High School. Randy and Joe Jacobs attended the Mayor's State of the City Address and was noted that the Mayor made MAYOR'S STATE OF CITY no mention of the Community Services Department during her speech. Randy addressed the Commission ADDRESS and requested that they be a voice for the Department. Rich Rivera explained that they had to remove two trees on an emergency since the roots had worked there DIVISION UPDATES way into the sewer lines. The trees will be replaced once the repairs are completed. Carolyn Crawford mentioned that the Commission on Older Americans was doing an assessment of exercise on seniors and its effects. Some of the seniors participated in the assessment. Discussion of Joe Guarrera's gift from Commission. JOE'S GIFT The Department Chairperson for March will be Carolyn Crawford. CHAIRPERSON With there being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 5:53 p.m. NEXT MTG. 3/5 The next meeting of the Azusa Parks and Recreation Commission will be MaFeFr5, 1998 at 5:00 p.m.at the N'-mnorial Park Recreation Center. 2/5/98
