PRESENT: Mary Sandlin, Harry Hoke, David Santellan, Donna McCormick, Joe Torres, ROLL CALL Condie Lopez [ft)J ) CV/al- ABSENT: Jack Bean OTHERS: Joseph Guarrera, Rich Rivera, Don Flowers, Planning Commissioner MINUTES Minutes were approved as mailed. APPROVED Prior to the meeting, at 4:30 p.m. members were given a tour of the Monrovia growing grounds TOUR MONROVIA by Wendy Proud. She highlighted several new varieties of trees for use as street trees. NURSERY Request from Murray School to use propane grills on Saturday, March 22, 1997 from 7:00-11 :00 REQUEST FROM a.m. was considered. It was motioned by David Santellan, seconded by Harry Hoke, and MURRAY SCHOOL unanimously approved. Request from CHP to use Memorial and Northside park ball fields for a fund raiser on Saturday, REQUEST FROM April 5, 1997 was discussed. It was motioned by Harry Hoke, seconded by Condie Lopez, CHP unanimously approved, and recommend a fee waiver for this event to City Council. . uest from Vivian Sua to use Day Camp room on Saturday, March 16, 1997 from 2:00-7:00 REQUEST FROM p.m.was considered. It was motioned by Donna McCormick, seconded by David Santellan, and VIVIAN SUA unanimously approved. Request from Kare Youth League to hang a banner advertising their Youth Circus,January 6 &7, REQUEST FROM 1997 will be forwarded to the appropriate City Department for appropriate action. KARE YOUTH LG Informational items were distributed. INFO. DISTRIB. It was the consensus of members that a letter be sent to Jack Bean with copy to City Council LETTER TO concerning his excessive absences. It was also moved by Harry Hoke, seconded by David COUNCIL RE:JACK Santellan,that City Council be advised that the Commission be reduced to five members and that BEAN it be accomplished through attrition. Motion passed 5-1 , with Condie opposed. Dave Linden, Pat Loy, and Woody Dike presented their proposal for the Rosedale development. ROSEDALE Linden stated that they are proposing 14 acres of park land where as the City now has 36 acres DEVELOPMENT for a population of over 43 thousand citizens. He said there has to be trade-off for the amenities PROPOSAL they are proposing, ie. smaller lots with greater common areas of green space. Members raised many questions relative to traffic patters, density, lot sizes, and parks. Pat Loy distributed an article"Looking for Hometown America"from the February 1997 Urban "LOOKING FOR ' )d and a summary of features and amenities desired in planned communities.
