Donna McCormick CALL TO ORDER +L..„ the group in the Pledge of Allegiance . PRESENT: Harry Hoke, David Santellan, Donna McCormick, Joe Torres, Condie Lopez. ROLL CALL EXCUSED: Mary Sandlin ABSENT: Jack Bean OTHERS: Joseph Guarrera, Director Community Services Minutes were approved as corrected. MINUTES APPROVED Request from Lee School to use 15 booths on Friday, April 4, 1997 from I :00 to 5:00 p.m. for REQUEST FROM LEE Spring Carnival was considered. It was moved by Donna McCormick, seconded by Harry Hoke, SCHOOL and unanimously approved. Request from Stephanie Kistemann to use Memorial Park with a moon bounce on Saturday, March REQUEST FROM 8, 1997 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a child's birthday party was considered. It was moved STEPHANIE by Condie Lopez, seconded by Donna McCormick, and unanimously approved. KISTEMANN Request from Azusa National Little League to use a meeting room on Monday, February 24, 1997 REQUEST FROM -m 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. was considered. It was moved by Donna McCormick, seconded by David NATIONAL LITTLE �5antellan, and unanimously approved. LEAGUE Request from Carrie Heidenrich to use the Day Camp room on Saturday, March 8, 1997 from 4:00 REQUEST FROM to 10:00 p.m.for a wedding shower was considered. It was moved by David Santellan, seconded CARRIE HEIDENRICH by Condie Lopez, and unanimously approved. Request from Pina Patel to use the Day Camp room on Sunday, April 6, 1997 from 2:00 to 9:00 REQUEST FROM PINA p.m. for a baby shower was considered. It was moved by Joe Torres, seconded by Donna PATEL McCormick, and unanimously approved. Thank you letter to Randy Noriega from Universal Filtration for use of Slauson Pool for a photo THANK YOU FROM shoot was read. UNIV. FILTRATION Memo from Redevelopment concerning"Tour of On-Going Downtown Maintenance" was shared. MEMO FROM The section concerning the Park Division was routed for action, ie. replace street trees in vacant tree REDEVELOPMENT wells. Members were reminded of the Transit Center Dedication scheduled for Thursday, February 27, REMINDER-TRANSIT 1997 at 1 I:00 a.m., with lunch following. DEDICATION Members were reminded of impending term expirations June 30, 1997 for Harry Hoke,Jack Bean, REMINDER-TERM -. id Donna McCormick. Staff will forward applications which should be returned to the City Office. EXPIRATIONS Donna requested that the tree replacement discussion be placed on the March 20, 1997 agenda. TREE REPLACEMENT DISCUSSION MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION 2/20/97 PAGE TWO Question was raised about the thermostat at the Head Start facilities. Staff will investigate. HEAD START THERMOSTAT Condie expressed concern for the appalling condition of the vacant lot of Arrow and Azusa Avenue. CONDITION OF LOT Staff explained that the lot in question is in the County. Dave inquired about the study done by the University of LaVerne. All members received a copy. ULV STUDY Wendy Proud of Monrovia Nursery has some trees she would like us to consider as replacement MONROVIA for those lost in the January wind storm. It was agreed that since we will be at the nursery for the NURSERY OFFERS March 6, 1997 Commission meeting,that we arrive at 4:30 p.m. to see what she is offering. TREES There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:35 p.m. ADJOURN The next meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission will be Thursday, NEXT MTG.
