Hany Hoke led the group in the Pledge of CALL TO ORDER `-Allegiance. PRESENT: Mary Sandlin,Joe Torres, David Santellan, Condie Lopez&Harry Hoke ROLL CALL OTHERS: Joe Guarrera, Director Community Services EXCUSED: Donna McCormick ABSENT: Jack Bean Minutes were approved as corrected. It was Joe Torres, not Mary Sandlin who mentioned the need for a MINUTES CORRECTED concrete pad at Soldano Village. Items 1-5 were approved on a single motion by Harry Hoke,seconded by David Santellan. I. Request from Sgt.Wood, National Guard for permission to install concrete sign in front of Armory. NAT'L GUARD SIGN Recommendation:Approve. 2. Request from Victoria Ortiz to use Teen Center on Saturday,Sept.28, 1996, 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.for VICTORIA ORTIZ USE child's Birthday Party. OF TEEN CENTER 928 Recommendation:Approve with appropriate fees and conditions. 3. Request from Azusa Pacific University Woman's Softball coach to use Northside Park on Monday, APU WOMAN'S October 7, 1996. SOFTBALL Recommendation:Approve. I.. Request from June Hartwell,T.O.P.S.to use Senior Center on Tuesdays,9:00 to 11:30 a.m. T.O.P.S.TO USE Recommendation: Approve. SENIOR CENTER 5. Request from Bnice Elkins Traffic School, Northridge,to use Recreation Center on Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. ELKINS TRAFIC to 4:00 p.m.for traffic school. SCHOOL DENIED Recommendation: Deny Item 6, request from City Employees Social Committee to use the Senior Center on Tuesday, October 8, EMPLOYEES SOCIAL 1996,5:00 a.m.to 10:00 p.m.for employees Golden Days Breakfast was approved on a motion by Condie COMM.TO USE Lopez,seconded by David Santellan and unanimously passed. SENIOR CTR. 10/8 Request from Azusa Pacific University Women's Softball team to use Northside Park through November 26, APU WOMEN'S 1996, 2:15 to 5:00 p.m. for practices and home games and on November 15 for a night practice was SOFTBALL TO USE discussed. On a motion by David Santellan,seconded by Harry Hoke,the request was approved for the day NORTHSIDE PARK use only. Item 8, request from Annie Ocequera to have a moon bounce at Pioneer Park on Sunday, September 22, MOON BOUNCE AT 1996,2:00 to 6:00 p.m.was approved on a motion by Joe Ton-es,seconded by Condie Lopez. PIONEER PARK Item 9, request from Elisa Melgoza,Azusa Giri Scouts to use the Recreation Center, September to June on GIRL SCOUTS TO USE Monday thru Thursday for scout meetings and leader training was approved on a motion by Harry Hoke, REC.CENTER seconded by Condie Lopez. Staff presented a brief verbal overview of all Division Programs and Projects. OVERVIEW/DEPT'S. `''Notification that both,Condie Lopez and David Santellan have been re-appointed to the Parks and Recreation CONDIE&DAVID RE- Commission. APPOINTED. 9/19/96 MINUTES OF THE AZUSA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION—9/19/96 PAGE TWO Tabled CPRS membership renewal was reconsidered, now that all members have been seated, it was agreed CPRS MEMBERSHIP TO to have staff process the renewal application. RENEWAL Golden Days is fast approaching and members are invited to partiapte in the festivities and to ride in the Parade. GOLDEN DAYS Election of a /ice Chairman is needed to follow established procedures. A unanimous ballot was cast for Harry HARRY HOKEN.P. Hoke. It was brought to staffs attention that on Tuesday night Volleyball League first aide was necessary and the VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE Recreation Staff either didn't have or couldn't find the first aide kit or cold packs. LACK OF FIRST AIDE There being no further business,the meeting was adjourned at 5:50 p.m. ADJOURN Next meeting scheduled for October 3, 1996,at the Memorial Park Recreation Center.
