The meeting was called to order at 5:25 by Joe Torres. Joe Guarrera led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. CALL TO ORDER
PRESENT: Joe Torres, David Santellan,Condie Lopez, Harry Hoke, Mary Sandlin, Donna McCormick. ROLL CALL
OTHERS: Joe Guarrera, Director Community Services; Randy Noriega, Recreation Supervisor
ABSENT: Jack Bean
EXCUSED: Mary Sandlin
Minutes were approved as mailed. MINUTES APPROVED
Items I-6 were approved on a single motion by Donna McCormick,seconded by David Santellan.
I. Request from Options Surround Care to use Northside Park on Wednesday,August 21, 1996 REQUEST FROM
from 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m.for end of the Summer children's picnic,with approximately 550 to OPTIONS
attend.
Recommendation:Approve.
2. Request from Carrie Heidenrich to use Day Camp room on Sunday,August 18, 1996 from 3:00 REQUEST FROM CARRIE
to 7:00 p.m.for baptism reception. HEIDENRJCH
Recommendation:Approve.
3. Request from Donna Hernandez to use Pioneer Park on Saturday,August 24, 1996 from 2:00 to REQUEST FROM
7:00 p.m.for birthday party with moon bounce with approximately 150 people in attendance. DONNA HERNANDEZ
Recommendation:Approve with usual conditions.
4. Request from Bill Leonard to use Pioneer Park on Saturday,September 14, 1996 from 12:00 noon REQUEST FROM BILL
to 7:00 p.m.for family reunion with approximately 80 people in attendance. LEONARD
Recommendation: Approve with usual conditions.
5. Request from Azusa Jr.All American Football to use Memorial Park snack bar August to November REQUEST FROM JR ALL
of 1996. AMERICAN FOOTBALL
Recommendation:Approve pending AYP's approval and contract.
6. Request from Azusa Released Time Education to use Northside Park rec room on Tuesdays, REQUEST FROM AZUSA
August 20, 1996 to May 1997 from I:30 to 2:30 p.m. RELEASED TIME
Recommendation: Approve.
Concern was expressed on Item I over the number of people they plan to have attend as related to the CONCERN OVER ITEM

Staff gave a brief update on various departmental programs and activities.
PROGRAM UPDATE
Copy of memo sent to Councilman Hardison by Chairman Sandlin was read relative to trees at Pioneer Park.

Commission update to City Council will take place on Monday,August 19.

Director apologized for lateness of invitation to Canyon Park ground breaking ceremony which took place on

Staff is proposing a statement relative to regulations for use of moon bounce and other attractions at City parks

Farmers Market was discussed. Two farmers had stated earlier this day that this is"their do or die day". It
appears they are not getting sufficient support to justify their expenses. We have already lost several others. FARMERS MARKET WAS
