1. Request from Decorative Specialties Inc., Todd Warner, to use Northside Park ball field for a
company softball game on 12/19/98 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Approximate attendance is 40
players.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve with standard fees and conditions.
G. Informational
1. Recreation Superintendents Randy Noriega and Joe Jacobs request that the Parks and
Recreation Commission members conduct an individual audit of our recreation programs.
Please review and critique the activities,events,and services we offer. The goal of this exercise
is to evaluate our program in an effort to meet the needs of the community. After evaluating
our current program, work up a wish list of activities, events, or services you would like to see
offered. This wish list would be contingent upon funds, staffing, and available facilities. This
exercise is the first step in a responsive recreation operation.
2. Facility Review
Over the next six months,each Commissioner is asked to conduct a facility audit of existing park
facilities. The review is requested to be general to specific. The goal of this audit is to identify
our facilities, our need for facility improvement and facility development within the next five
years and the next ten years. Here are some example of facility improvements that are
scheduled to start within the next fiscal year.
a. Replacement of playground equipment at Memorial and City Park.
b. Replacement of athletic field fencing at Memorial Park.
Some ideas that staff has that are not currently projected to be included in next fiscal year are
a. Air conditioning for Memorial Park Gym.
b. Skate board facility.
c. Improvement to Northside Park parking lot.
d. Replacement of basketball court at Gladstone Park.
Please come up with your own list of facility improvements and the development of new
facilities.
3. Program update.

1. Holiday Tree Lighting, Monday, December 7, 1998, 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
2. Fall Youth Sports Awards Banquet, Saturday, November 21, 1998, 2:00 p.m. at the
Memorial Park Gym.
