SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS FROM LOS ANGELES
COUNTY, WORKFORCE DEVELOMENT, AGING AND COMMUNITY
SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO SUPPORT THE ELDERLY NUTRITION
PROGRAM
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Recreation and Family Services has been awarded additional funds in the amount of
$46,478 from the Los Angeles County, Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community
Services, to support the Elderly Nutrition Program in the City of Azusa. The original award for 2018-19
was $107,574. These additional funds will increase the annual award to $154,052. This action accepts
this grant award and approves a corresponding budget amendment to incorporate the additional grant
funds into the current fiscal year budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1)Accept the additional grant funds in the amount of $46,478 from the Los Angeles County,
Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services; and
2)Approve necessary budget amendment and adjust the current fiscal year budget accordingly.
ANALYSIS:
The Department of Recreation and Family Services is the recipient of a Los Angeles County,
Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services grant to provide meals at the

Senior Center for the elderly. These additional grant funds will enable the Department to receive
reimbursement for meals that will be served this year that would not have otherwise been supported by
this grant, but rather supplemented using General Fund monies.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact will be an increase of $46,478 to the General Fund balance. The additional grant will
be allocated for the elderly nutrition program in lieu of using General Funds. Upon Council approval
and when the grant agreement if fully executed, Staff will prepare a budget amendment consistent with
the grant award amount.
