Each year volunteers give significant service to the City of Azusa. They are involved in programs throughout the City, including the Senior Center , Library , Police Department and recreation programs. Without the hundreds of hours provided by these volunteers, the City would not be able to provide many worthwhile services for the community. In order to demonstrate the City's appreciation for our valued volunteers, it is the staff request that a proclamation be presented to the representative of the many volunteers serving the City. As a part of activities for this week, on April 25, there will be a recognition dinner at the Azusa Senior Center to celebrate and show our appreciation to our volunteers. A copy of the Proclamation is attached. Please join us in thanking our Volunteers on April 25. ac-#244-e-f L-(// /q .. 729 North Dalton Avenue, Azusa, California 91702-2586 17) E7ZEAS, The true measure of a nation's greatness and stature in the world community, is the extent of participation, commitment and cooperation of its citizens: expressed by readiness to supply unstinted voluntary assistance in whatever their country needs, volunteers are a rich resource all too often taken for granted, because they are so often utilized but not publicized, as individuals who have unselfishly given of themselves without material compensation, working for the common good, and 1I7J iRE.AS, Despite the fact that our world is becoming more and more fragmented, where objectives and concerns are becoming narrower,we in this nation arefortunate to have recourse to those who stand ready tovolunteer;if we ever lose those of our population mho see the greater good for the nation as a labor of love, we shall be but a short distance to disaster. for this reason we should, at every opportunity such as this, publicly recognite and commend this key part of our national body. ,7VOW TNEpZEfOR.E,The City Council ofthe City of Azusa unites in proclaiming the week of April 21-271996, as JVATIOJVAC VOCLJVTEE7Z 117EEX in the City of Azusa, and calls upon all residents to pause and reflect on the many instances in their lives where volunteers have aided them;as well the enrichment of our country that these self effacing individuals and organizations so lavishly provide: truly, America is all the better for their loving commitment to the good of us all. .IJV 11717'VESS WNEREOf, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the Seal of the City of Azusa to be affixed this first day of April.
