HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2115 ORDINANCE NO. 2115 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORDINANCE NO. 2106 DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF ANY BUILDING PERMITS IN COMMERCIAL ZONES WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA OF THE CITY PENDING COMPLETION OF A STUDY BY THE CITY OF APPROPRIATE LAND USES WITHIN SAID ZONES WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA; SAID ORDINANCE TO BE ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO SECTION 65858 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE. WHEREAS, the City Council on May 18, 1981, adopted Ordinance NO. 2106 declaring a moratorium on the issuance of any building permits in commercial zones within the redevelopment area of the City pend- ing completion of a study by the City of appropriate land uses within said zones within the redevelopment area; and WHEREAS, the study of appropriate land uses by the City within said zones within the redevelopment area has not yet been completed; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 65858 of the Government Code said Ordinance No. 2106 continues in effect for a period of no longer than four months unless the City Council after notice pursuant to Section 65856 of the Government Code and a public hearing extends the effectiveness of said Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Council after notice given pursuant to Section 65856 of the Government Code has conducted a hearing on the extension of the effectiveness of Ordinance No. 2106 for a period of eight (8) months. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa of the State of California does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The effectiveness of Ordinance No. 2106 is hereby extended for a period of eight (8) months from September 18, 1981. SECTION 2 . This Ordinance is adopted as an urgency measure to protect the public safety, health and welfare and shall take effect upon its adoption pursuant to the provisions of Sections 65856 and 65868 of the Government Code. SECTION 3 . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this 8th day of September, 1981.
