AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, EXTENDING
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORDINANCE NO. 2119
DECLARING A MORATORIUM ON THE ESTABLISH-
MENT OF ANY USE INVOLVING THE SALE OF
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT SERVICE STATIONS
PENDING THE STUDY OF SAID USE BY THE
PLANNING COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL;
SAID ORDINANCE TO BE ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY
ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO SECTION 65858 OF THE
GOVERNMENT CODE.
WHEREAS, the City Council on July 7, 1981,
adopted Ordinance No. 2110 declaring a moratorium on the
establishment of any use involving the sale of alcoholic
beverages at service stations pending the study of said
use by the Planning Commission and City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on November 2,
1981, adopted Ordinance No. 2119 extending Ordinance
No. 2110 declaring a moratorium on the establishment of
any use involving the sale of alcoholic beverages at
service stations pending the study of said use by the
Planning Commission and City Council; and
WHEREAS, the study of the establishment of any
use involving the sale of alcoholic beverages at service
stations has not yet been completed; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 65858 of the
Government Code said Ordinance No. 2119 continues in
effect for a period of no longer than one year unless
the City Council after notice pursuant to Section 65856 of
the Government Code and a public hearing extends the
effectiveness of said Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council after notice given
pursuant to Section 65856 of the Government Code has
conducted a hearing on the extension of the effectiveness
of Ordinance No. 2119 for a period of one year.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of Azusa of
the State of California does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The effectiveness of Ordinance 2110
was hereby extended for a period of eight (8) months from
November 7, 1981, by Ordinance No. 2119 .
SECTION 2. The effectiveness of Ordinance 2119
is hereby extended for a period of one year from July 6 ,
1982.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance is adopted as an
urgency measure to protect the public safety, health and
welfare and shall take effect upon its adoption pursuant
to the provisions of Sections 65856 and 65858 of the
Government Code.
