HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2143 ORDINANCE NO. 2143 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING TITLE 10 CHAPTER 12 SECTION 10.12 . 040 AND SECTION 10 . 12 . 050 RELATING TO DOG LICENSES, SAID ORDINANCE SHALL BE ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY MEASURE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Title 10 Chapter 12 Sections 10. 12. 040 and 10. 12. 050 are hereby amended respectively to read as follows: "10. 12. 040 LICENSE PERIOD. Dog licenses may be issued for a maximum period of two and one-half years. The minimum period is one month. The annual license fee as prescribed by Resolution shall be prorated according to the period of the license. " "10 . 12. 050 RENEWALS. Dog licenses shall be renewed and the fees are due and payable on or before expiration of a prior license. Following the expiration of a prior license a penalty of three dollars shall be charged and collected in addition to the license fees collected upon the issuance of a renewal license. A penalty of three dollars shall be charged for the issuance of an original license if not applied for within thirty days after the dog is brought within the City limits, or comes into the possession of the owner. All such dogs shall be vaccinated or revaccinated as provided for in Chapter 10 .16 . All renewals of dog licenses shall be paid for at the rate for the full year as in this chapter provided. " SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be adopted as an urgency measure to become effective immediately for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare. The facts constituting the urgent need for immediate effectiveness are as follows: Presently dog licenses expire on July 1st of each year. A plan for modification of dog licensing procedure has been prepared and is proposed for implementation with the necessary forms being printed effective September 1 , 1982. Unless this Ordinance receives immediate effectiveness, it will not be possible to utilize the forms which have been prepared for its implementation with consequent loss of revenue and undue consumption of administrative time. SECTION 3 . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required by law.
