AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING TITLE
10 CHAPTER 12 SECTION 10.12 . 040 AND
SECTION 10 . 12 . 050 RELATING TO DOG
LICENSES, SAID ORDINANCE SHALL BE
ADOPTED AS AN URGENCY MEASURE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Title 10 Chapter 12 Sections
10. 12. 040 and 10. 12. 050 are hereby amended respectively
to read as follows:
"10. 12. 040 LICENSE PERIOD. Dog licenses
may be issued for a maximum period of two
and one-half years. The minimum period
is one month. The annual license fee as
prescribed by Resolution shall be prorated
according to the period of the license. "
"10 . 12. 050 RENEWALS. Dog licenses shall be
renewed and the fees are due and payable on
or before expiration of a prior license.
Following the expiration of a prior license
a penalty of three dollars shall be charged and
collected in addition to the license fees
collected upon the issuance of a renewal
license. A penalty of three dollars shall be
charged for the issuance of an original
license if not applied for within thirty days
after the dog is brought within the City
limits, or comes into the possession of the
owner. All such dogs shall be vaccinated or
revaccinated as provided for in Chapter 10 .16 .
All renewals of dog licenses shall be paid for
at the rate for the full year as in this
chapter provided. "
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be adopted as
an urgency measure to become effective immediately for the
immediate preservation of the public health, safety and
welfare. The facts constituting the urgent need for
immediate effectiveness are as follows:
Presently dog licenses expire on July 1st
of each year. A plan for modification of dog licensing
procedure has been prepared and is proposed for implementation
with the necessary forms being printed effective September 1 ,
1982. Unless this Ordinance receives immediate effectiveness,
it will not be possible to utilize the forms which have been
prepared for its implementation with consequent loss of revenue
and undue consumption of administrative time.
SECTION 3 . The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be
published as required by law.
PASSED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of August , 1982 .
