HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-6 Staff Report - RFB Transformer RelocationCONSENT ITEM E-6 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: MATT MARQUEZ, ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DATE: FEBRUARY 4, 2019 SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR PROJECT ED2018 - BUS CHARGER FOR THE RELOCATION OF THE FOOTHILL TRANSIT MAIN SWITCHGEAR BACKGROUND: At the November 5, 2018 City Council Meeting a Memorandum of Understanding was approved with Foothill Transit for the relocation of their service utility box along the busway adjacent to the A-2 Mixed-Use Development Project. Additionally, there is a second utility box owned by Azusa Light & Water that also needs to be relocated along with the Foothill Transit utility box. These two (2) utility boxes are between the public right-of-way and the project property line, which currently impede the project development. The proposed actions authorize Staff to solicit bids to relocate the Utility Boxes along the Foothill Transit Busway. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions: 1) Approve the ED2018-Bus Charger project plans and specifications; and 2) Authorize advertisement and solicitation of bids for the ED2018-Bus Charger Project. ANALYSIS: Staff has developed a relocation plan and specifications to relocate the two (2) utility boxes from their current location to the new location on the south side of the Busway and remove Utility Box (4), as shown in Attachment 1. The scope of work for this relocation entails the installation of underground conduits, pull-boxes, concrete foundations, and the restoration of landscaping impacted during construction. APPROVED CITY COUNCIL 2/4/2019 RFB to Relocate the Foothill Transit Main Switchgear February 4, 2019 Page 2 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact to the City by authorizing Staff to solicit bids. Once proposals are received and reviewed by Staff, an agenda report will be provided to the City Council which will outline potential fiscal impact.
