AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE
1984 COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES BUILDING LAWS RELATING
TO NONCONFORMING BUILDINGS, ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS AND
EXITS, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 15 . 04. 050 AND 15. 04. 120
AND AMENDING SECTION 15. 04. 080 OF THE AZUSA
MUNICIPAL CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Azusa does
find, determine and declare that:
A. On April 15 , 1985 the City Council adopted
Ordinance No. 2262 adopting by reference the
County of Los Angeles Building Code;
B. On April 15 , 1985 the Council held a duly-
noticed public hearing at which time all persons
interested had the opportunity to appear and be
heard on the matter of adopting by reference the
"County of Los Angeles Building Laws" and the
amendments to that code as set forth in this
Ordinance and all comments received at such
hearing were considered by the City Council prior
to the adoption of this Ordinance;
C. The adoption of the "County of Los Angeles
Building Laws" will be effective on or about
May 15 , 1985;
D. The amendments to the "County of Los Angeles
Building Code" as set forth in this Ordinance
are necessary for the preservation of the
health, safety and welfare of the citizens of
Azusa and persons using buildings within the
City of Azusa and will promote the interests
of consistency and compatibility between the
Azusa Municipal Code and the County of Los Angeles
Building Code.
SECTION 2. Section 15 . 04 . 050 of the Azusa Municipal
Code is hereby repealed.
SECTION 3 . Section 15. 04 . 080 of the Azusa Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"15. 04. 080 BUILDING CODE - SECTIONS 204 , 205 , 206
AND 307 DELETED. The Building Code adopted in
Section 15 . 04 . 010 is amended by deleting therefrom
Sections 204 , 205, 206 and 307 . "
SECTION 4 . Section 15. 04 . 120 of the Azusa Municipal
Code is hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. This ordinance is hereby adopted as an
urgency ordinance pursuant to the provisions of Government Code
Sections 36934 and 36937 . The City Council finds that the
adoption of this ordinance as an urgency ordinance is necessary
for the immediate preservation of the health, safety and welfare
of the citizens of Azusa. The facts justifying this finding are
set forth in Section 1 of this ordinance. Additionally, the
Building Code will be effective May 15 , 1985 , and without the
adoption of this ordinance as an urgency ordinance, the amend-
ments to the Code would not be effective until approximately
35 days thereafter. During the interim great confusion would
result from having inconsistent provisions of the Azusa Municipal
Code and the County Building Code. Additionally, significant
confusion would arise in the enforcement of the provisions of
the Building Code during said period without this ordinance.
This ordinance shall, therefore, take effect immediately as an
urgency ordinance.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify this ordinance
as an urgency ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
as required by law.
