HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 2289 Li ORDINANCE NO. 2289 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AMENDING SECTION 19 . 48. 060 OF THE AZUSA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO LANDSCAPING REQUIREMENTS OR OPEN PARKING AREAS IN COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL ZONED PROPERTIES (CODE AMENDMENT NO. 150) THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby find, determine and declare that : A. The change and amendment to the zoning ordinance set forth below was duly initiated, and notice of the public hearings thereon were duly given and published in accordance with applicable law; B. Public hearings thereon were duly held by the Planning Commission of the City of Azusa on September 4, 1985, and by the City Council of the City of Azusa on October 21, 1985; C. On September 4, 1985, the Planning Commission of the City of Azusa by Resolution No. 2214 recommended to the City Council that the proposed amendment to the Zoning Code be adopted; D. The City Council has considered all of the information presented to it at the public hearing held on October 21, 1985, and determines that the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require the following amendment to the Zoning Code be made; E. The City Council further finds that the six- month amortization period being adopted for compliance with the landscaping requirements for open parking and commercial and industrial zones is eminently fair and reasonable given the minimal work required by the owners of commercial and industrial properties subject to the ordinance and the fact that such work can be completed without undue difficulty within said six-month period. F. The proposed amendment to the Zoning Code adopted by this ordinance is consistent with the City' s General Plan and the various elements thereof. SECTION 2. Section 19.48. 060 of the Azusa Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "19 . 48. 060 LANDSCAPING REQUIREMENTS. Landscaping of open parking areas in commercial and industrial zoned properties shall be provided in all parking areas having fifteen or more parking spaces, as follows: " (1) An amount equal to not less than two percent of the gross parking area, which for the purpose of calculation shall include all that area improved and used for the parking of vehicles as well as aisles, shall be landscaped and maintained as interior landscaping; " ( 2) Planting along the perimeter of parking area, whether for required screening or general beautification, shall not be considered as part of the two percent interior landscaping. Also, where a parking area abuts the buildings on the subject property, the border plantings adjacent to those buildings shall not be considered as part of the interior landscaping. " ( 3) Notwithstanding the provisions set forth in Section 19. 40 . 050 , all parking areas shall be brought into conformance with the requirements of this section by July 1, 1986. " SECTION 3 . The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the manner required by law. PASSED AND APPROVED this 18th day of November . 1985 .
