AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING SECTION 8.32.020 OF THE AZUSA
MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO THE SALE OF PERSONAL
PROPERTY.
The City Council of the City of Azusa does ordain as
follows :
SECTION 1. Section 8.32.020 of the Azusa Municipal Code
is amended to read as follows:
"8.32.020. AUCTION SALE - PROCEEDS. The Chief of Police
shall take charge of and keep in his possession the property
mentioned in Section 8.32.010, and he must within a reasonable
time inform the owner thereof, if known, and make restitution
to him of such property upon demand without compensation.
Should any such property remain unclaimed by its true owner for
a period of six months from the date of finding, the Chief of
Police shall send a schedule of the unclaimed property to each
department head. If any such property is suitable for use for
City purposes the department head may by written requisition
request the transfer of the property to his department. The
Chief of Police may transfer any property so requisitioned to
the requisitioning department and the property shall be added
to the inventory of City property. The Chief of Police shall
cause the remaining property to be sold at public auction to the
highest bidder. Notice of such sale shall be given by the
Chief of Police at least five days before the time fixed therefor,
by publication in the official city newspaper of a statement of
the time and place fixed therefor, together with a schedule
of the property to be offered for sale. Immediately after the
completion of any such sale the Chief of Police shall give the
City Treasurer a statement of the proceeds thereof together
with the expense incurred in concluding such sale. The Chief
of Police shall forthwith pay such proceeds to the City
Treasurer and the City Treasurer, after deducting the necessary
expenses actually incurred,- shall deposit the balance thereof in
the general fund.
The Chief of Police may also sell at any auction sale
held pursuant to the provisions of this section any City
property which the City Council has declared to be surplus and
not required for public use and which at the time of sale has
not been otherwise disposed of.
No employee of the Police Department shall purchase any
property offered for sale pursuant to this section. No City
employee shall purchase any City-owned property which has been
declared surplus and which is offered to sale pursuant to the
provisions of this section."
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published as required
by law.

certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 1067 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting
of the City Council on the 1st day of October , 1973. That,
thereafter, said ordinance was duly adopted and passed at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 15th day of October , 1973,
by the following vote, to wit:
