RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Council adopt the attached Resolution appointing the Transportation Manager as
Representative and a Councilmember as the Alternate Director to serve on the Board of Directors for the
California Transportation Insurance Pool.
BACKGROUND
On January 4, 1994, Council approved California Transportation Insurance Pool (CalTip), a joint powers
insurance authority,as the provider of insurance for the City's transportation program. The City then adopted
a resolution authorizing an individual to execute and deliver the CalTip Joint Powers Agreement providing for
the City membership in CalTip, and appointed the Director of Community Services, Joe Guarrera and
appointing Pete MacKay,Transportation Manager as the alternate to the CalTip Board of Directors. Inasmuch
as, Mr. Guarrera has retired, we now need to reappoint a representative and new alternate to execute and
deliver the CalTip Joint Powers Agreement providing for the City of Azusa's membership.

RESOLUTION NO. 98-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA AMENDING THE EXECUTION OF JOINT POWERS
AGREEMENT OF THE CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION
INSURANCE POOL (CALTIP) AND APPOINTING A
DIRECTOR AND AN ALTERNATE DIRECTOR AS
REPRESENTATIVE
WHEREAS, on January 4, 1994, the City Council approved the California Transit
Insurance Pool (CaITIP) as the provider of insurance for the City's transportation program, and
WHEREAS, the City of Azusa desires to approve an amendment to the Joint Powers
Agreement to authorize the appointment of a representative and a substitute alternate
representative to the Governing Board should a Member City desire to do so;
WHEREAS,to appoint the Transportation Manager as Director and City Councilmember
as an Alternate Director;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve and
declare as follows:
1. This City Council does approve an amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement,to read
as follows:
The City of Azusa, City Council hereby appoints the Transportation Manager as
Director and Councilmember is hereby appointed as Alternate
Director to fulfill CaITIP's Joint Powers Agreement requiring City representatives be
provided.
RESOLVED FURTHER that a copy of this Resolution shall be provided to CaITIP.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 16th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1998.
