SUBJECT: Adjustment in Salary for Director of Utilities
A recent survey has been conducted to determine if the salary
currently paid to the City of Azusa Director of Utilities is
equitable with other cities.
This survey disclosed that the current salary of $6, 260. 11 is
considerably lower than that paid by other cities for the same
position.
In evaluating the data from these surveys, it is apparent that an
increase in salary for this position is clearly needed and
justified.
It is, therefore, requested that the salary for Director of
Utilities be increased to $7,200.00 effective February 20, 1990.
Additionally, it is requested that any increase in salary for
fiscal year 1991-92 be based on the Consumer Price Index for
April, 1990.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Resolution 8760 be amending revising the
salary of the Director of Utilities to $7,200. 00 per month
effective February 20, 1990; and, further, that any increase in
salary for fiscal year 1991-92 be based on the Consumer Price
Index for April, 1990.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA AMENDING RESOLUTION 8760 REGARDING
SALARY AND BENEFITS FOR EXECUTIVE AND MIDDLE
MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Whereas, the City of Azusa has determined
through salary surveys that the salary schedule for the executive
management position of Director of Utilities is well below the

SECTION 2 . Whereas, it is appropriate at this time to
make an adjustment in compensation due to the obvious salary
disparity,
SECTION 3 . Now, therefore, be it resolved that the
city council of the City of Azusa does hereby grant a salary
increase for the position of Director of Utilities from $6, 260. 11
to $7, 200. 00 per month effective February 20, 1990.
SECTION 4. Be it further resolved that any salary
adjustment for this position in fiscal year 1990/91 shall be
based on the Consumer Price Index for April, 1990.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 20th day of February, 1990.
