Harding, Redevelopment Direct Date: August 18, 1986 Subject: Redevelopment Agency Personnel Appointment Background The Fiscal Year 1986-87 Agency Budget established two new positions. The positions, titled Redevelopment Project Analyst and Economic Development Analyst, are to perform technical redevelopment, economic development, and marketing activities for the Agency. Both positions were recommended in the City's adopted Economic Development Strategy. The Redevelopment Project Analyst position was recently filled. Ms. Tina Katchen is recommended for appointment to the Economic Development Analyst position. Ms. Katchen is currently employed by the County of Los Angeles Community Development Commission as a Development Specialist in the Community Development Block Grant Division. Ms. Katchen has coordinated the grant activities of several Los Angeles County cities and is experienced with the myriad of state and federal grant program regulations. Her duties have required close coordination with city and county officials, non-profit and community based organizations. Ms. Katchen has a Master's Degree in Urban Planning from UCLA. If appointed by the Agency Board, Ms. Katchen will begin work on or about September 15, 1986. Her principal duties shall be to staff the Economic Development Advisory Committee, provide assistance to businesses wishing to expand or relocate in Azusa, develop a marketing program for the community, prepare grant applications for economic development activities, and relat-• duties. g//,'(/ A .0 213 East Foothill Boulevard, Azusa, California 91702 . OR- i.'?; • 1985 Lloyd Wood, City AdMinistrator FROM Joe Guarrera, Director CommunityServices • Subject: Trees along Foothill Blvd. Park Superintendent , DeLoach presented a proposal for tree designation for the westerly half of Area 1 at the January 3 , 1985 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting. This area has a preponderance of the trees listed and approval of the list will formalize the .official designation. • Members approved the list exclusive of Items 3 , 13 & 14. Item 3 - Azusa Ave. is presently designated with the Photenia Fraseri and is less, maintenance then the • proposed Ficus . • Item 13 - Foothill Blvd. from Angeleno to_ Todd - is designated .with the Photenia. - Item 14 -- Alosta ' is designated with the Liquid Amber. • In October, 1980 when the street improvements were completed the Parks and Recreation Commission elected to establish an alternating planting scene of Photenia Fraseri and Tristania. • These trees are just beginning to establish themselves and are giving the Boulevard a very pleasing look. : The Ficus require extensive maintenance, trimming and spraying, therefore, not, desirable.
