OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Azusa is hereby
called to be held MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2014, immediately following the Utility Board which meets at 6:30
p.m., at the Azusa Light and Water Conference Room located at 729 North Azusa Avenue, Azusa, California.
Said Special Meeting shall be for discussing, hearing and taking action on the items listed below:

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve a block party request on Sierra Madre Avenue between Orange Blossom Way and the cul-de-sac.
In compliance with Government Code Section 54957.5, agenda materials are available for inspection by
members of the public at the following locations: Azusa City Clerk's Office - 213 E. Foothill Boulevard,
Azusa City Library - 729 N. Dalton Avenue, and Azusa Police Department Lobby - 725 N. Alameda, Azusa,
California. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to
participate in a city meeting,please contact the City Clerk at 626-812-5229. Notification three (3) working
days prior to the meeting when special services are needed will assist staff in assuring that reasonable
arrangements can be made to provide access to the meeting.

SUBJECT: BLOCK PARTY REQUEST ON SIERRA MADRE AVENUE BETWEEN ORANGE
BLOSSOM WAY AND THE CUL-DE-SAC
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve a block party request on Sierra Madre Avenue between
Orange Blossom Way and the cul-de-sac.
BACKGROUND
The applicant, Cathy Bushey, on behalf of the residents on Old Sierra Madre Avenue is requesting
authorization to have a block party on July 4, 2014 between the hours of 12 pm and 10 pm, requiring the
closure of Sierra Madre Avenue from Orange Blossom Way to the end of the cul-de-sac (see attached
exhibit). Approximately 100 family and friends are expected to attend the event.
If approved by the City Council, the applicant will be responsible for compliance of the following
conditions:
1. Only barricades which allow quick and easy removal for public safety emergency vehicles will
be permitted.
2. Tables, chairs, platforms, equipment, vehicles, and any other probable obstacles shall be placed
in a manner that will provide a 12-foot wide emergency access along the street.
3. The applicant will be responsible for cleaning and clearing all trash on the street, sidewalks, and
public areas immediately following the conclusion of the permitted time of the block party.
4. The applicant is responsible for compliance with all City of Azusa Municipal Code regulations
and conditions deemed necessary by the City Manager, Chief of Police, or County of Los
Angeles Fire Chief.

There is no fiscal impact.
