California voters have not passed a water bond since 2006. The water bond ballot item passed by the Legislature in 2009 has been postponed twice. At the same time, the drought and effects of climate change faced by the State threatens access to clean, affordable, and reliable sources of water for residents and the industry. AB 2043 (Bigelow) Clean,Safe, and Reliable Drinking Water TBD Supply Act of 2014 Total Bond: 7.93 million AB 2686(Perea) Safe,Clean and Reliable Drinking Water TBD Act of 2012 Downsize existing bond size from$11.4 B to$9.25 B SB 848(Wolk) Safe Drinking Water,Water Quality,and Opposed Water Supply Act of 2014 Unless Total Bond: $6.82 billion Amended SB 927(Cannella) Safe,Clean and Reliable Drinking Water TBD Act of 2014 Keeps most of the language from the existing water bond funding;reduces funding except for clean drinking water. SB 1250(Hueso) Safe,Clean and Reliable Drinking Water TBD Act of 2012 Declares the intent of Legislature to amend the existing water bond. SB 1370(Galgiani) Reliable Water Supply Bond of 2014 TBD Total Bond:$5.1 billion The CMUA's Board of Governors has adopted water bond policy principles that its Legislative Committee is using to review the above bills.
