HomeMy WebLinkAboutE-4 Staff Report - West Wing Ceiling Abatement NOCCONSENT ITEM E-4 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL VIA: SERGIO GONZALEZ, CITY MANAGER FROM: DANIEL BOBADILLA, P.E., DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER DATE: MARCH 4, 2019 SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF PROJECT COMPLETION AND AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE WEST WING CEILING ABATEMENT PROJECT SUMMARY: On July 16, 2018, the City Council awarded a contract to Horizons Construction Company International, Inc. for the West Wing Ceiling Abatement Project. The proposed actions will accept the improvements and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the project. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1)Accept the project improvements; and 2)Authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the West Wing Ceiling Abatement Project. DISCUSSION: Horizons Construction Company International was awarded a contract, in the amount of $283,140, for the West Wing Ceiling Abatement Project. The project removed and replaced the fiberglass insulation, ceiling tiles, ceiling lights, vent/grille covers, and the abatement of various materials within the ceiling system of the City Hall West Wing building. FISCAL IMPACT: A contract for this project was awarded in the amount of $283,140. The project was funded by Capital Assets and Infrastructure Replacement Reserve funds and completed within budget with a total construction cost of $272,611, project #66617B.
